OnePlus has certainly done a great job on its latest OnePlus 6 flagship, especially in terms of design. This year, in fact, the Chinese company decided to use a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 glass back-cover and an aluminum perimeter frame. However, in addition to being fragile, the glass back panel has another disadvantage.
In recent hours, iFixit has released the complete teardown of the new OnePlus 6 with results on the entire operation. Basically, the glass body makes the smartphone harder to repair.
The teardown shows, however, that the glass back-cover is rather simple to remove than other devices with the same material. The reason for this is that the longer cable that connects the fingerprint sensor allows you to have more room to perform the disassembly operations, and therefore have less chance of damaging something.
Once the back cover has been removed, you can easily remove the battery as it is not glued to the frame. We remind you that the smartphone is equipped with a 3300 mAh unit that will surely lose performance over the years, so at some point, it will need to be replaced.
After removing the battery, the OnePlus 6 motherboard is accessed. This is fixed by 10 Philips screws that must be unscrewed. Even if the terminal does not have any IP certification, it should still withstand a light rain or a short bath in the sink. In fact, taking a look at the inside, you can see some elements of water insulation.
After removing the motherboard, you access the Optic AMOLED display. Note that OnePlus has fixed the screen with a large amount of glue, so the replacement of the Oneplus 6 panel could be very risky with the consequent increase in damage to the display when it is replaced.
