According to the blogger, the Xiaomi Mi 10 series will soon update the MEMC dynamic compensation function via OTA. Previously, the blogger had revealed that the Mi 10 engineering machine supports this function.
MEMC (MotionEstimation and Motion Compensation) means motion estimation and motion compensation. Through the combination of hardware chip and video interpolation algorithm, the trajectory of high-speed moving objects in the picture is estimated and the compensation frame is inserted, and the estimated picture is compensated to the real picture to improve the frame rate, which makes the picture smoother and smoother.
MEMC is the first video technology applied to TV products. The hardware chips and algorithms used by mainstream manufacturers are different, and their naming is different. Xiaomi directly named MEMC, Sony named Motionflow, LG named TruMotion, and Samsung named Auto Motion Plus. Hisense is called SMR. The application of MEMC technology on the mobile phone is to make up for the disconnect between low-frame content and high-frame hardware technology to achieve the purpose of improving the overall smoothness of the picture.
