Royole, which launched the world’s first bendable smartphone in 2018, recently announced the launch date for its brand new device, which may be called FlexPai 2. Soon after the announcement of the event, the expected technical characteristics of the future novelty appeared on the network, and now, thanks to the efforts of the Chinese regulator, official photos of the Royole FlexPai 2 being prepared for release appeared in the public domain.
On the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a record of the certification of a new Royole gadget, code-named RY1202, has appeared. Judging by the images published by the department, the device will become thinner compared to the previous model, and the gap between the halves of the case will be significantly reduced when bent. The declared dimensions of the device are 186.2 x 133.8 x 6.5 mm, weight – 340 grams.
According to official documentation, the smartphone will be equipped with a 7.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 × 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4: 3 and it would be powered by the standard Snapdragon 865G, as the maximum frequency of chipset mentioned in certification and SD 865G are the same. The phone will be available in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants with 256GB and 512GB of storage.
The phone consists of a quad camera setup arranged vertically on the left of the display. The quad-camera setup includes 64MP+8MP+2MP+32MP sensors. However, the fourth sensor (32MP) will be used only to take selfies, as the 32MP sensor is mentioned separately. The phone would also support optical zoom up to 3 times.
Its battery capacity is 4450mAh with fast charging support. However, the charging speed is not mentioned. The phone also got a side fingerprint scanner in the lock screen button.
Moreover, Royole FlexPai 2 would be available in different color varieties: Magic Gold, Dark Night Black, Star Grey. The model mentioned in renders is with the “Dark Night Black” color. The presentation of the new flexible smartphone of the Chinese brand is scheduled for September 21, 2020, the cost of the gadget has not yet been announced by the manufacturer.
