DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced Official: A Drone For Extreme Situations

China-based technology company DJI was designing drone models for operational purposes under the name of the Enterprise series. The company has added a brand new model to the series called Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced. The drone is a device that can easily adapt to harsh conditions thanks to its comprehensive features.

Featuring 32x digital zoom and high resolution thermal and visual cameras, the new Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced has a highly consistent airborne capability with its RTX module. Let’s take a closer look at the details about the new Mavic 2 model drone.

Overall, it does not bring major visual changes when compared to the Mavic 2 Enterprise model launched in 2018, but it has good performance updates, according to the company. Some of its improvements include support for x32 digital zoom, a new 640 x 512 px thermal camera (16x zoom, 30Hz frame rate, and 2-degree temperature measurement accuracy up or down), a second sensor 48MP, and a new RTK module that promises centimeter-level positioning accuracy.

The drone has the traditional folding design of the Mavic line and is equipped to respond in critical emergency situations, such as in fires, enforcement of laws, and inspections, this being its highlight compared to other models.

DJI’s objective is to assist, computerize, and simplify some corporate and redemption functions. As already mentioned above, the Advanced model features a 48MP camera, which replaces the previous model’s 12MP sensor. In addition, the camera now offers a 32x digital zoom. Other highlights mentioned by DJI on the official product page include support for transmission in Full HD resolution and a distance of up to 10km, and a new Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensor.

Of course, another feature that has remained in this drone variant is that it is possible to add other DJI accessories, which open up new possibilities for communication and image capture, through the flight control application. The accessories are:

M2E searchlight: double searchlights and a luminous flux of 2400 lumens. Useful for missions in dark areas or in low light. The searchlight is recommended for carrying out searches, rescues, and inspections.

M2E Speaker: maximum projection of 100 decibels (one meter away), the possibility of up to 10 personalized voice recordings. It allows opening a communication channel with close individuals.

M2E Lighthouse: follows FAA (American Federal Aviation Administration) standards, with permission for night flights. There is also a strobe (an optical instrument that studies and records continuous movements) attached, which gives visibility up to 4.8 km. It is an accessory that will greatly help the perception and operation of the drone at night.

New RTK Module: Supports NTRIP – allows users of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) system to use the RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) technique for precise positioning, without the need for a conventional radio link – and is capable of centimetric positioning.

The DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced has 24GB of data storage and password protection, which is required every time the M2E is started. It has a maximum flight time of 31 minutes, its maximum speed can reach up to 72km / h, and withstands temperatures down to -10 ° C.

Other resources that were kept on the drone were the GPS timestamp, which records and encodes the time, date, and location of each recorded image; the AIR SENSE, which warns if there are airplanes or helicopters coming and avoid air congestion and possible collisions; and support for OcuSync 2.0, which allows a stable connection between the drone and the remote control. This transmission can be made up to 8km away, however, the applicable laws must be followed, that is, the drone can only fly within its field of vision.

Lastly, the new DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced is available for pre-order at official DJI Enterprise retailers and will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2021. On the official page, there is no mention of price, but we can have a certain value parameter looking at the launch price of the 2018 model.

DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced arrived at a cost of US $1999 on an international stage, bringing together the basic kit with the drone, control, a battery, the three accessories to attach to the drone, some extras, and a bag. The Fly More kit from the previous M2E, with extra batteries, more propellers, had to charge the batteries among other accessories, cost $419.
