Just days after Huawei was certified for a wireless gaming mouse, the company patented a controller for VR games. It should work with a virtual reality headset, but this has not yet been revealed. However, the latest leaks make us wonder if the manufacturer is thinking of activating more in this niche in the future. We have detailed below.
According to a newly released report in the ITHome newspaper, the Chinese technology giant was granted the patent earlier this week and had the patent number CN306513655S. A brief description can also be observed in the patent application, which states that the product is referred to in the patents as a “Gamepad” and its purpose is primarily to serve as a “controller in VR games or to achieve other interactions in a virtual environment.” The patent also comes with certain sketches and a 3D rendering of this VR driver.
If you’ve ever seen any other game VR controller, you may notice that they are all almost the same. Therefore, looking at these images, the game controller has a relatively common design, which can also be found with other VR-based controllers. The front offers three buttons along with a joystick, which is likely for motion-based controls.
On the right side of the product is another visible mechanism, which may be another button or other functions that are currently unclear. The Chinese technology giant has already embarked on VR technology with related headsets, so it is probably working on new, more modern versions.
Due to US restrictions, the Chinese manufacturer was forced to look for alternatives to stay relevant in the market. Huawei recently unveiled its first electric cars that will be sold only in China and run its proprietary operating system – Harmony OS. We also remember the rumors according to which the company would like to develop a gaming console in the future, a rival for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. However, Huawei would launch gaming laptops in the first phase, a field that is not really foreign to the manufacturer.
