5 Ways in Restoring Important Media Files

Data has been a vital part of our everyday lives, particularly for certain professionals like criminal defense attorneys, child protective services, and law enforcement agencies who usually keep many files like audios and videos to fulfill their job.

Unfortunately, incidents still happen despite an individual’s preventive measures, and the data they’ve saved to their respective devices could have been lost. Luckily, a couple of websites like mediamedic.studio offers their services in retrieving these crucial data.

But before approaching them, we recommend trying the following tricks to recover your files as this might save you more time and stress in the future:

Retrieve the files from Windows Backup

In general, deleted files are often sent to the computer’s recycle bin. Of course, this makes it easier for you to recover the lost data. On the other hand, if you got unlucky enough to erase its existence on your PC completely, then you’d likely have to depend on the Windows Backup.

Assuming that you set up this file a long time ago, you’ll be sure that the computer would regularly do a backup based on the storage you’ve chosen. Through this method, you can reinstate the system to its previous condition and have the chance to retrieve the deleted files back into the system.

To do this, you have to first click on the “Start” button and look up the “Control Panel” in the computer’s search field. As soon as you see this, hover the arrow above the “System and Security” button and double-click on it.

Upon doing so, a pop-up with the name “Backup and Restore” should be displayed on the screen. Click on this button, and it’ll direct you to different sections, including the “Restore my files,” which is the automatic retrieval of the media files you’ve lost earlier.

    Restoring through File History

The File History is a newly available method for securely saving a user’s data using the separate pen drive limitedly accessible to Windows 8 and 10. If you configured your PC to restore deleted files through the File History feature, you could use this to your advantage.

You could locate the program by hitting the Windows Key then searching for “File History,” Once you clicked this, the button would present you with the option to “Restore your files with File History.”

In case these steps don’t work for you, feel free to try and access the program through the “Control Panel.” You could even opt to use a shortcut if you’re comfortable doing so just by holding the Windows and X keys simultaneously.

With this, a pop-up should display the “Control Panel” that you’d have to click to reach the “System and Security” section before being able to see the “File History” feature on the screen and start the file restoration process.

    Recovering files in Windows 7

In case you’re wondering if it’s still possible to recover the permanently deleted files from a Windows 7 server, we urge you not to worry because Windows computers have their respective installed system protection regardless of which version it may be.

However, this process obliges you to set up a feature within the computer that’ll command it to automatically backup each version of the data you’ve edited. This is a significant part as it creates the restoration point to an external hard drive or a shared folder.

To do this, a user should locate the folder used to store the recently deleted files, then right-click and select the “Restore previous versions” from its drop-down menu. As a result, the Windows server would look for the file’s previous versions and show them to the screen in a list sorted by the dates of modifications.

Glide over the list and click on the latest version before choosing “Restore,” which would successfully recover the files you were looking for.

    Revive data from Mac

If you have the habit of bypassing or emptying the Trash through the keyboard shortcut, this solution is for you.

As you know, emptying the Trash could be done by clicking the Command-Shift-Delete, making it impossible for you to revive nor undo the deleted data.

Fortunately for you, you could still get your hands on the removed files so long as you could use the Terminal within 3 minutes since the accident happened. As a result, it’s no doubt that this could be challenging, yet it’s much better than not recovering significant data.

Yes, the Mac computers have been the standard in the industry due to their solid command-line interface as well as their Unix roots. Still, the fact remains that it comes with limitations such as only having the power to revive a single file at a time, making the idea of bulk restorations an impossible feat.

At the beginning of the process, you first have to launch the Terminal from the “/Applications/Utilities” section or utilize the Spotlight to help you out. Next, enter the “cd.Trash” to guide you in navigating within the Trash folder.

Then search into the “ls -al ~/.Trash” to get a view in the Trash folder’s contents before typing in “mv filename ../” and move it across to your Mac’s home folder. Of course, don’t forget to replace its filename with the name of the file you want to restore!

Given that this feature is just an alternative to Trash’s graphical user interface, you would have to manually specify the recovery location to guarantee that’ll work out for you.

    Collect files via Android

For this case, we’re going to use the situation where an Android user unintentionally factory reset their phone!

This means that it would delete all the applications, data, and settings that the user has installed on the device. This method is performed so the remaining personal information of the previous owner or the malware in the Android could be completely wiped out.

Suppose that this took place while you have a backup through your Google account. If you can remember, there’s a feature to allow the device to synchronize your phone’s data to this Cloud backup. As soon as you log in with the same account, you’ll get the chance to keep access to your stored data again.

On the other hand, if this isn’t possible for your situation, a local backup may be more suitable for the issue. In general, this is responsible for frequently collecting data on your behalf.

If you did allow this to run, it’s likely that after a factory reset, you could restore the previous files by accessing the “Settings” and looking for the “Back up & restore” and then select the phone’s latest backup file to revive the lost materials successfully.

    Words of caution

Of course, these things are merely the tip of the iceberg, as losing files in devices is a common situation for all. In fact, several reasons may be the root of the problem, yet only experts could identify them.

Nonetheless, keeping these tricks up to your sleeves could be handy in a few situations, especially if the files you accidentally deleted couldn’t be relieved anymore. In the end, we still recommend seeking a professional if the above didn’t work in your favor for better results.
