MateBook E Launched: Huawei’s New 2-In-1 Tablet With Windows 11

Alongside the Watch GT Runner in China, Huawei today unveiled a brand new MateBook E -2-in-1. This is Huawei’s challenger to Microsoft’s popular Surface Pro devices. Huawei has not upgraded the MateBook E range with a new device since 2019, but now with Windows 11, Huawei wants to offer new technology in this product category as well.

Huawei MateBook E is made in a slim 7.9 mm body. The new item weighs 709 grams, which makes it much lighter than even thin laptops. The computer is equipped with a 12.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels.

The matrix provides one hundred percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. The screen boasts a 16:10 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of 600 cd / m². The display occupies 90% of the front surface of the device.

The Huawei MateBook E is available in black and blue. In addition, two different keyboards are available for the device: one with a regular top stop and a more advanced one that allows you to adjust the angle of the display. The second only comes with a more powerful device model based on an Intel Core i7 processor. It features a USB Type-C port and customizable key backlighting and boasts NFC support for Huawei Share.

The MateBook E is compatible with the second-generation M-Pencil active stylus. The stylus can be magnetized to the computer and charged from it without using wires. A fingerprint scanner combined with a power button is used to identify the user.

Despite its modest weight and dimensions, the MateBook E boasts high performance. The most advanced modification is based on an Intel Core i7 Tiger Lake processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics. The chip is paired with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD.

More affordable and less productive versions will be released. The base version is equipped with a Core i5 Tiger Lake chip, which is complemented by 8GB of RAM. The storage capacity is 256GB. All versions support Thunderbolt 4, which allows you to connect external displays up to and including 8K.

Huawei claims that the new MateBook E is equipped with an advanced eight-layer cooling system, which ensures efficient heat dissipation. There are ventilation holes on the side edge of the case. The computer is equipped with a 13MP main camera and an 8MP front camera.

The MateBook E supports 65W fast charging. The corresponding charger is supplied with the device. A full charge takes about 90 minutes. The battery capacity is 42Wh. Huawei claims the MateBook E has a battery life of 5 to 8 hours, depending on usage.

The operating system is Microsoft’s latest Windows 11, for which Huawei has made a few optimizations. The experience is better than before with the company’s own devices and there are also gestures that make it easier to use the touch screen.

The base MateBook E with a Core i5 processor is $940. A more advanced version on the same chip, but with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of permanent memory, will cost $ 1098. A bundle with a Core i7 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of non-volatile memory will cost $ 1255.

The most advanced model with the same configuration, but with an extended kit – in addition to the charger and keyboard, it also includes the M-Pencil stylus. The price of the computer will be $1365. The new MateBook E will go on sale from December 1st.
