A recent report on CCTV’s Financial channel said that by the end of 2021, more than 220 million devices were running Huawei’s HarmonyOS operating system, and more than 100 Huawei mobile phones have been updated to support HarmonyOS.
What’s more, HarmonyOS is getting its biggest upgrade yet, with reports that Huawei will launch HarmonyOS 3 sometime this year.
According to digital blogger @Changan, HarmonyOS 3 could launch in September.
Huawei has released HarmonyOS 3.0 developer preview so that developers can prepare and develop HarmonyOS 3.0 ahead of time. Huawei says HarmonyOS 3 continues to innovate around the three core values of system architecture, Hyperterminal, and multiple deployment at one time, bringing comprehensive upgrades to the system capabilities and development tools.
It’s worth mentioning that Huawei’s next flagship phone Mate 50 series is likely to debut with HarmonyOS 3 pre-installed, as previously revealed by blogger @Shixue Guan.
As far as I know, huawei Mate 50 series will only be available on Snapdragon 8 processor, as well as 4G.
Powered by Samsung’s 4nm processor and equipped with ARMv9 instruction set, the Snapdragon 8 will be upgraded to the next-generation X2, A710 and A510 with 3.0GHz, 2.5GHz and 1.8GHz frequencies, respectively, with 20 percent higher performance and 30 percent lower power consumption. GPU upgrade to the latest Adreno, game performance increased by 30%, power consumption decreased by 25%.

In terms of cameras, huawei’s Mate 50 series is a step up from the P50 series, and while it’s still flagship, it’s basically not that different from the serious photography in the mobile phone industry this year.
