Today’s mobile SoC mobile platforms have turned to 5G across the board, but the market still has a lot of demand for 4G. Today, MediaTek has brought a new U-Helio G99 to the 4G market. Judging from this number, this seems to be the swan song of MediaTek’s 4G SoC.
The MediaTek Helio G99 is actually an upgraded version of the previous G96 and G95. The specifications have changed very little. At least for now, the maximum frequency has been increased from 2.05GHz to 2.2GHz, which is 150MHz faster, and nothing else has changed.
In terms of network, it integrates a 4G global standard baseband, supports up to LTE Cat.13, 4G carrier aggregation, 4G dual card dual standby, 4×4 MIMO, 256-QAM, and also supports dual-band Beidou, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2.
The manufacturing process should still be 12nm. MediaTek Helio G99 integrates two A76 and six A55 CPU cores with a maximum frequency of 2.2GHz and 2.0GHz respectively. At the same time, it integrates a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and supports H.264, H.265 (HEVC) codec and VP. -9 decoding, and HyperEngine 2.0 Lite game engine.
The image supports a single 108 Megapixel camera, or two 16 Megapixel cameras, built-in three ISP, support face detection, hardware depth of field engine, single/dual camera background blur, AINR intelligent noise reduction, 3DNR noise reduction, multi-frame noise reduction, rolling shutter compensation, electronic image stabilization, etc.
The memory supports LPDDR4X-2133, the storage support only lists UFS 2.2, and eMMC 5.1 is not marked. I don’t know if it is no longer supported. Devices using the Helio G99 4G platform are expected to be available in the third quarter.
