Google has previously announced that it will release its Pixel tablet in 2023 and that it will have a Google Tensor chip like a phone. Google’s Android code recently revealed more about the tablet.
Twitter user @kuba Wojciechowski found that AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code shows that the Google Pixel tablet will not come with any GPS hardware and modems, meaning that the tablet will not support cellular data networks, only WiFi connections.
Also, the Pixel doesn’t have proximity sensors or barometer sensors, which means it’s suitable for use at home rather than on the road. The code also reveals that the Pixel tablet will use a development board called Citron, which means it will have the first Tensor chips.
In July, the same Twitter user found out via Google code that the Google Pixel tablet will have a front and back 8 megapixel SONY IMX355 sensor and no 4K recording, slow motion, or other features.
As reported by 9to5Google in June, the Google Pixel tablet will have several metal contacts on the back, allowing users to place the tablet on a dedicated Dock called Google Dock for better use at home. The information revealed in this code further confirms that the tablet’s primary use scenario is home only.

Google’s previewed images show the Pixel tablet with a white border on the front and a monoculture design on the back, which comes in gray and green colors. Meanwhile, the Pixel tablet will be Google’s first tablet since the Chrome OS-powered Pixel Slate in 2018.
