Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series, released today, should be the first to support Google’s Fast Pair feature. Mishaal Rahman showed off the feature on the Pixel 7 and Galaxy S23 models.
The Google Fast Match Service (GFPS) uses Bluetooth Low Power (BLE) to discover nearby Bluetooth devices without consuming a lot of phone power, allowing for “magic” scenarios based on device proximity.
The main feature of this feature is support for audio switching, which seamlessly switches headphone connections between devices based on user activity (for example, starting a movie) and priority events (such as incoming calls).
According to a screenshot shared by Mishaal Rahman, a phone that supports Google’s Quickmatch feature will pop up a QR code that users can scan to transfer data from the phone when they detect a nearby product that also supports Google’s Quickmatch feature, such as a headset/phone.
Before transmission, however, the quickmatch feature needs to be verified by biometrics or PIN codes, which should prevent unwanted data transfers.
The setup will then run automatically, but some Oems may require additional steps. On the Samsung Galaxy S23 model, Samsung will remind users to install the Smart Switch app.

On the whole, smart phones can find the target phone faster and complete the data transfer through the fast pairing function.
