Earlier, the Russian “Izvestia” reported on August 22 that the Ministry of Health has prepared a list of additives ban, and said that the list is planned to take effect on March 1, 2024. According to information previously learned by 2firsts.ru, the ban list is rumored to include:
Food flavors: Fruits and vegetables, vegetable flavor impurities and derivatives – herbs, spices, ginger, cinnamon.
Sweeteners: Molasses, honey, stevia, maple syrup, agave syrup.
Caffeine, Guarana, taurine and other popular additives.
Menthol and menthol like substances.
Other very useful substances, such as drugs, dietary supplements and vitamins C, E, amino acids, etc.
Nicotine salt.
Russian e-cigarette industry researchers told 2firsts.ru that the additive ban restricts more than 90 percent of flavored e-cigarettes sold in the Russian market, especially fruit flavors. At the same time, nicotine salt restrictions basically cover all electronic cigarette products in Russia.
According to media reports, on August 24, Archom Meterev, chairman of the State Duma Youth Policy Committee, said on Telegram that a draft resolution on the list of additives used in e-cigarettes (including flavors and sweeteners, etc.) has been submitted to the government cabinet.
