SONY Xperia 1 VI Phone Released: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Plus

SONY Xperia 1 VI mobile phone has been officially released, and the new machine has been comprehensively improved on the basis of the Xperia 1V.

The biggest change is on the screen, with the Xperia 1 VI ditched the 4K 21:9 OLED display in favor of the more common 19.5:9 1080×2340 resolution display. Although the screen size is still 6.5 inches, the actual viewable area of the display is slightly increased because of the new screen ratio.

At the same time, the Xperia 1 VI’s display brightness has also been increased, from 900 nits to 1,300 nits. In addition, the screen also uses an LTPO panel, which can intelligently adjust the refresh rate according to the display content, and freely switch between 1Hz and 120Hz. In contrast, the Xperia 1V’s screen refresh rate switches between 60Hz and 120Hz.

The addition of the LTPO panel will help improve the battery life of the Xperia 1 VI. SONY says its built-in 5000mAh battery can support two days of use. At the same time, the Xperia 1 VI also supports 30W fast charge, which can be charged up to 50% in 30 minutes. Thanks to the Xperia’s battery maintenance function and the Xperia adaptive charging function, SONY claims that the Xperia 1 VI’s battery will retain at least 80 percent of its capacity after four years of use.

On the audio side, the Xperia 1 VI also gets an upgrade, with more volume and less distortion from its front-facing stereo speakers. And the 3.5mm headphone jack also uses the new Premium Audio Circuit audio circuit, which can bring better sound quality output.

In terms of performance, the Xperia 1 VI is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, supplemented by 12GB of storage. The European version offers 256GB of storage, while the Japanese and East Asian versions offer 512GB of storage. It is worth mentioning that SONY has finally added a heat trap to its flagship phone, which will greatly improve the heat dissipation performance of the Xperia 1 VI. In addition, the Xperia 1 VI incorporates an FPS optimizer that dynamically adjusts CPU usage and frame rate based on the game environment.

On the camera side, the rear camera parameters of the Xperia 1 VI look similar to those of the Xperia 1 V, but SONY has optimized the sensor and lens. The 48MP main camera still uses a 1/1.35-inch sensor, but this year added a full-resolution 48MP shooting mode. In addition, the telephoto lens has also received an upgrade, the Xperia 1 VI telephoto lens equivalent focal length of 85mm-170mm (3.5x to 7.1x optical zoom), compared to the Xperia 1 V’s 85-110mm lens has a greater zoom capability. It is worth mentioning that the Xperia 1 VI’s telephoto lens also supports macro shooting, with a recent focusing distance of 4cm (2x magnification).

Corning Gorilla glass is used on the front and rear of the Xperia 1 VI, with Victus version on the front and Victus 1 version on the back. The surface of the rear glass has a matte texture, similar to that of the previous generation. Like the Xperia 1 V, the Xperia 1 VI has a fluted texture on its aluminum bezel.

In terms of systems, the Xperia 1 VI will be shipped with Android 14, and SONY has promised to provide it with three generations of Android major version updates and four years of security updates.

Available in black, silver and green, the Xperia 1 VI starts at €1,399 and will go on sale in early June.
