Igeekphone News on October 28th: According to media reports, the iPhone 18 Pro series will undergo a dual upgrade in imaging.
First is the main camera. It is reported that the main camera of the iPhone 18 Pro series supports variable aperture, which will be the first model in Apple’s history to support variable aperture.
It is reported that the variable aperture technology controls the amount of light entering the camera sensor by physically adjusting the size of the lens aperture. In low-light conditions, opening the aperture wide can receive more light. In bright scenes, reducing the aperture prevents overexposure. The core advantage of this technology lies in enabling users to independently select the aperture value just like using a professional camera, achieving more precise depth-of-field control and creative shooting effects.

In addition to the upgrade of the main camera, the iPhone 18 Pro series will be equipped with a brand-new 48-megapixel telephoto sensor, with an aperture expected to reach f/2.0. The smaller the aperture value, the greater the amount of light entering, which will directly improve the shooting performance in low-light conditions.
In addition, the iPhone 18 Pro series will be the first to launch the A20 Pro chip, which adopts TSMC’s 2nm process technology, marking Apple’s official entry into the 2nm era.
It is worth mentioning that the iPhone 18 series launched by Apple next year will not release both the standard version and the Pro version simultaneously. Instead, it will be released in phases.
It is expected that in September next year, Apple will first launch the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable iPhone, while the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will be launched in the first half of 2027.
