According to the Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC), WiJo Pouches North America, a modern Swedish pocket cigarette manufacturer, announced that it will establish its first North American manufacturing base in Kexington County, South Carolina, USA, bringing about 170 jobs to the local area.
WiJo Pouches North America is a global contract manufacturer headquartered in Sweden. According to SEDC’s announcement, the company plans to lease a factory of approximately 55,000 square feet in Lexington (address: 381 Burton Road) for the contract production of nicotine, caffeine and functional pocket products for sale in the North American market.

The project is expected to commence operation in March 2026. The relevant departments of the local government (including the state Department of Commerce and the county economic development agency) have approved the employment development tax credit to support this investment and factory construction project.
Jerry Sweetland, the CEO of WiJo Pouches NA North America, said that the company thanks the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Lexington Economic Development Agency for their support and looks forward to long-term development in the local area.
