Igeekphone News, December 18th: Today, Xiaomi announced that its annual imaging flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, will be released next week.
Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group, said that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has been upgraded to be released this year and will take over the ultra-high-end market. This also marks that Xiaomi has completed the new release rhythm layout of “all high-end flagship models of the original generation will be released in the same year”.
It is understood that Xiaomi and Leica have upgraded their global imaging strategic cooperation. On the basis of the original “joint research and development”, they have introduced a brand-new “strategic co-creation model”.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the first product under this new collaboration model, featuring a new-generation 1-inch main camera sensor specifically designed for mobile imaging and a Leica APO telephoto lens.
Lu Weibing said that this is an optical system solution for the next generation, which will bring about a revolutionary innovation in both night scene quality and telephoto creation experience, and bring mobile imaging optics to an unprecedented new starting point.
Compared with its predecessor, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has changed from a quad-camera setup to a triple-camera one. It is the first to be equipped with the brand-new Leica 1-inch main camera OV50X, with a pixel size of 1.6 microns, and supports up to 8K video recording.
