Igeekphone 3/17: According to a report by South Korean media ZDNet Korea on March 16, Apple is considering applying low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology to the iPhone 19e that is planned to be launched in the first half of 2028.
If this information is true, then all product lines of the iPhone in 2028 will use LTPO, and the 60Hz screens will be completely phased out from the Apple iPhone product line.
The report, citing several industry insiders, stated that Apple plans to apply the new LTPO+ technology to the iPhone Air to be launched in the first half of 2028 and the foldable product to be launched in the second half of 2028. At the same time, Apple is considering applying LTPO to other iPhone product lines, including iPhone 19e.

Igeekphone has noted that all four models of the iPhone 17 series (including Air) launched by Apple in 2025 all adopted LTPO OLED, but the latest iPhone 17e uses LTPS OLED. It is reported that the iPhone 18e planned to be launched in 2027 will also use LTPS screens.
An industry insider stated: “Apple will sell iPhones by grade and plans to apply the LTPO+ technology to some iPhone products in 2028. Therefore, it is planned to upgrade the TFT of the products (19e) from LTPS to LTPO.’ He added:’If the LTPO+ technology being developed cannot be applied to some iPhone models in 2028, then the timing for the products to adopt LTPO might also be affected.
