Igeekphone reported on April 17th that a source named @chunvn8888 posted on the X platform on Tuesday (April 14th) that according to the Sony Vietnam Facebook fan group, the global version of the Sony Xperia 1 VIII phone will be released in May this year, while the Vietnamese version will be available in July.

It is introduced that this model will offer a 1TB storage option this year and support microSD card expansion. The international version supports eSIM. The CMOS size of the ultra-wide-angle lens is 2.1 times larger than that of Xperia 1 VI and it supports Ultra HDR+ recording and automatic framing.
According to an earlier report by IT News citing PhoneArena, the Sony Xperia 1 VIII phone will abandon its traditional vertical triple-camera layout and instead adopt a separate rectangular camera island structure.

The three cameras on the back of this device are centrally positioned at the top left corner of the rear panel. The main camera and the telephoto lens in the triple camera module will use larger-sized sensors, while the ultra-wide-angle lens will maintain the current specification. In terms of configuration, it is reported that this device is equipped with the fifth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Ultra Edition chip and comes with at least 12GB of RAM as standard.
