Igeekphone 6/20: Technology media ximitime published a blog post yesterday (June 19), stating that the Xiaomi Tablet 9 is expected to be released in both standard and Pro versions. The code indicates that the standard version of the Xiaomi Tablet 9 may reuse the relevant hardware and firmware platform of the Xiaomi mi pad 8.
According to the leaked code information, the estimated model of the Xiaomi pad 9 Standard Edition is M656BA. Developer Kacper discovered that this tablet shares the same hardware platform with the Xiaomi pad 8 and uses a highly related firmware package. Therefore, this media speculates that the Xiaomi pad 9 might reuse the hardware of the Xiaomi Tablet 8, thereby accelerating the HyperOS update.

Regarding the internal code names, it is reported that the internal code name for the standard version of the Xiaomi Pad 9 is “donghai” (East Sea), while the Pro version is code-named “shuntian” (estimated to be Shuntian, which is said to be the name of the Virgin Mary in mythology and is considered to be the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Guanyin).
In addition, the standard version of “donghai” is also associated with the “yupei_d” code. The internal code of the Xiaomi pad 8 is “yupei”, which further indicates that the two tablets share the development foundation and firmware.

In terms of batteries, it is reported that the standard version of Xiaomi pad 9 might feature a 9720mAh capacity battery, which is 520mAh more than that of the standard version of Xiaomi mi pad 8 (9200mAh), representing an increase of 5.65%.

In terms of configuration, the standard version of the Xiaomi Tablet 9 is expected to use the same chip as the Xiaomi pad 8, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip. While the Pro version might be upgraded to the fifth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chip. Regarding the release date, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi Tablet 9 series in August 2026.
