On July 16th, a digital blogger revealed that the Huawei Pura 100 series is currently undergoing intensive development and is expected to be officially launched next year. As the next-generation flagship of the Huawei Pura series, the new model will offer two screen sizes for users to choose from: a 6.6-inch mid-screen and a 6.9-inch large screen. Both models will feature 1.5K resolution straight screens.
Double-layer OLED: The “Secret Weapon” of the Flagship Large Screen
What is most worthy of attention is that the 6.9-inch large-screen version is currently evaluating whether to adopt the dual-layer OLED technology. If the test goes smoothly, this cutting-edge technology is highly likely to be first launched on the highest-end Pura 100 Pro Max. The principle of dual-layer OLED is to vertically stack two RGB light-emitting units through a charge generation layer, forming a “dual-layer light-emitting” structure. Under the same brightness, the current burden of each layer is halved, and the theoretical peak brightness can reach twice that of a single-layer OLED. At the same time, it can also reduce power consumption and extend the screen lifespan. Before this, Huawei had already first commercialized this technology on the Mate 90 RS Extraordinary Master Edition.

Image upgrade: What comes after 200 million pixels?
As part of Huawei’s flagship imaging series, the imaging capabilities of Pura 100 are also a key focus. This year’s Pura 90 series has introduced innovations such as a 200-megapixel RYYB sensor, a three-in-one ultra-lighting prism, and chip-level 200-megapixel RAW domain real-time processing, which have significantly improved the image quality of telephoto shots. As an updated product, whether the Pura 100 series can continue to make breakthroughs in the imaging field will be one of the biggest mysteries before its release.
Based on the current information released, the Huawei Pura 100 series has promising upgrade points in both the screen and imaging core areas. The dual-size strategy can better cater to the different hand feel preferences of users. And if the double-layer OLED can be applied to the Pro Max level, it will further widen the display experience gap with competitors. As for whether it will bring more surprises, we will have to wait until the new model is officially launched next year to see.
