Igeekphone News: Xiaomi has begun rolling out the HyperOS 3.0.317.0 internal beta update for the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, introducing new functionality for the devices’ signature rear display while improving overall system stability and connectivity.
The update package is approximately 1.2GB and is currently available to internal beta testers ahead of a wider public release.
Faster Access to Alipay via the Rear Display
One of the most notable additions in this beta release is a new shortcut for the rear secondary display, which Xiaomi markets as the Magic Rear Screen.

After installing the update, users can double-press the power button to instantly display Alipay payment and transit QR codes on the rear screen, allowing quick access without unlocking the phone or navigating to the main display.
To use this feature, Xiaomi notes that users must install Alipay version 12.12.6 or later.
The update is designed to streamline everyday tasks such as making payments or accessing public transportation, taking advantage of the device’s secondary display for faster interactions.
Improved Bluetooth Connectivity and System Stability
Beyond the new rear-screen shortcut, HyperOS 3.0.317 also includes several under-the-hood improvements.
According to Xiaomi, the update:
- Enhances Bluetooth digital car key connectivity
- Improves overall system stability
- Fixes occasional display anomalies encountered in specific usage scenarios
While these changes are less visible than the new rear display functionality, they are intended to deliver a smoother and more reliable user experience.

Xiaomi Continues Expanding Rear Display Features
The 2.66-inch rear display has been one of the defining features of the Xiaomi 17 Pro series, and Xiaomi has continued to expand its capabilities through software updates since the phones’ launch.
Previous updates have added a wide range of functions, including:
- Rear-screen teleprompter for video recording
- Stock market information
- Privacy (stealth) mode
- Real-time conversation translation
- Interactive virtual pets
- AI wallpaper saving to the gallery
These additions reflect Xiaomi’s strategy of turning the rear display into more than just a notification screen, enabling practical tools for productivity, creativity, and everyday convenience.
More Than a Secondary Screen
In addition to the latest payment shortcuts, the rear display already supports a variety of useful functions, including:
- Countdown timers
- Music playback controls
- Phone call management
- Flight information display
- Ride-hailing status updates
- Rear-camera selfie preview and controls
By allowing users to access these features without activating the primary display, Xiaomi aims to improve efficiency while reducing unnecessary battery consumption.
Rear Display to Remain Part of Xiaomi’s Flagship Strategy
Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing has previously confirmed that the company’s next-generation flagship smartphones will continue to feature a rear display, with additional investment planned for the technology.

The executive indicated that Xiaomi intends to further expand both the hardware and software capabilities of the secondary screen, suggesting it will remain a key differentiator for the company’s premium smartphone lineup.
Rolling Out to Internal Testers
The HyperOS 3.0.317.0 update is currently limited to Xiaomi’s internal beta testing program, meaning broader public availability has not yet been announced.
If testing proceeds as expected, many of the new features and optimizations introduced in this build are likely to arrive in a future stable HyperOS update for the Xiaomi 17 Pro series.
