Oukitel WP68 Air 5G Brings an 8000mAh Battery, 120Hz Display and Rugged 5G Hardware

Oukitel WP68 Air 5G takes a different approach to the typical smartphone. Instead of chasing an ultra-thin body, it focuses on the features that matter when durability, battery endurance and connectivity are more important than a lightweight design. The phone combines a 6.88-inch 120Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 7025 processor, 8000mAh battery, 45W charging and IP68/IP69K protection in a rugged chassis.

There is also plenty of storage, a multi-camera setup with a dedicated night-vision camera, NFC and Android 16. The phone is therefore aimed at users who want a device that can handle demanding everyday environments without giving up modern smartphone features.

A Rugged Smartphone Built for Everyday Abuse

The first thing that separates the Oukitel WP68 Air 5G from conventional smartphones is its physical design.

The device measures 178.4 × 83.2 × 11.9mm and weighs around 309.5 grams. That is considerably heavier than most mainstream phones, but the additional size is part of the trade-off for its rugged construction. OUKITEL rates the phone to MIL-STD-810H, while its IP68 and IP69K ratings provide protection against water and dust under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.

This makes the WP68 Air 5G particularly interesting for outdoor users, field workers, travelers and anyone who regularly puts a phone through harsher conditions.

It is not trying to be the sleekest phone in a pocket. Instead, durability is clearly part of the product’s identity.

6.88-Inch 120Hz Screen Focuses on Smoothness

    The WP68 Air 5G uses a 6.88-inch HD+ Incell display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel has a resolution of 720 × 1640 pixels, a rated brightness of 450 nits and an approximately 85% screen-to-body ratio.

The resolution is modest compared with some premium smartphones, but the 120Hz refresh rate is more relevant to everyday responsiveness. Scrolling through websites, navigating menus and moving between applications can feel smoother when the display operates at a higher refresh rate.

The large panel should also be useful for navigation, video playback, messaging and other tasks where a bigger viewing area is helpful.

For a rugged phone, this combination makes sense: the screen is large enough for practical use without turning the device into a compact tablet.

    Dimensity 7025 Gives the WP68 Air 5G a Modern 5G Platform

At the heart of the phone is MediaTek’s Dimensity 7025 chipset. The octa-core platform uses two Cortex-A78 cores running at up to 2.5GHz alongside six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. The official specification also lists an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU.

This hardware is better viewed as a balanced platform for everyday use rather than a dedicated high-end gaming chipset.

For activities such as social media, navigation, streaming, communication, web browsing and general multitasking, the Dimensity 7025 provides a practical performance foundation while also bringing 5G connectivity to the WP68 Air series.

The phone supports a wide range of 4G and 5G bands, although network compatibility can vary by carrier and region, so buyers should check local band support before ordering.

The “36GB RAM” Figure Needs Some Explanation

One of the biggest numbers in the WP68 Air 5G’s product listing is 36GB RAM. However, this should not be interpreted as 36GB of physical memory.

The configuration consists of 12GB of physical RAM, with up to 24GB of additional virtual memory expansion. The phone also provides 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a TF card can expand storage by up to 2TB according to the listed specifications.

This distinction is important when comparing the phone with other smartphones.

The 12GB physical RAM is already a substantial amount for normal smartphone multitasking. The additional virtual-memory feature can allocate part of the available storage to help keep more processes active, but it should not be treated as equivalent to adding another 24GB of physical RAM.

For users who store large numbers of photos, videos, maps and offline files, the combination of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is arguably more meaningful than the headline 36GB figure.

64MP Main Camera Gets Support From Night Vision

Photography is another area where the WP68 Air 5G goes beyond the basic rugged-phone formula.

The rear camera system combines a 64MP main camera, an 8MP night-vision camera and a 2MP macro camera. The main sensor is listed as an OV64B with an f/1.8 aperture, while the night-vision camera uses a Hi-846 sensor and infrared illumination.

The dedicated night-vision hardware is one of the more interesting aspects of the camera system.

Rather than relying entirely on software to brighten a dark photograph, the phone has a separate camera designed specifically for low-light and night-vision scenarios. That could be useful for outdoor work, camping, equipment inspection or other situations where conventional smartphone cameras may struggle.

The phone also includes a 32MP front camera based on the Sony IMX616 sensor. Video recording supports up to 2K at 30fps from the rear cameras, while the front camera supports 1080p recording at 30fps.

8000mAh Battery Is One of Its Biggest Advantages

Battery capacity is arguably the strongest reason to consider the WP68 Air 5G.

The phone packs an 8000mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging through USB-C. It also supports reverse charging, allowing the phone to provide power to compatible accessories or other devices when needed.

An 8000mAh battery gives the phone substantially more capacity than the typical smartphone battery. For people who spend long periods away from a charger, this can be more valuable than chasing a thinner body.

The trade-off is weight. At around 309.5 grams, the WP68 Air 5G is not a lightweight device, but that extra mass is closely connected to its large battery and rugged construction.

Android 16, NFC and Useful Connectivity

The software side is also relatively current, with the WP68 Air 5G running Android 16. The specification sheet lists NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo positioning.

The phone also supports a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, compass, proximity sensor and ambient-light sensor.

Another practical feature is its dual-SIM configuration. Depending on the setup, users can install two Nano-SIM cards or combine a Nano-SIM with a TF card for additional storage.

That combination makes the WP68 Air 5G more versatile than a rugged phone designed only for basic calls and outdoor use.

Who Is the Oukitel WP68 Air 5G For?

The WP68 Air 5G makes the most sense for users looking for a rugged smartphone that can handle demanding outdoor environments.

It is a strong candidate for people who prioritize:

    • Long battery life over a slim body
    • Rugged protection for outdoor or demanding environments
    • 5G connectivity for modern mobile networks
    • Large storage for photos, videos and offline content
    • Night-vision photography for low-light situations
    • A large 120Hz display for everyday use
    • NFC and modern connectivity without moving to a conventional flagship

On the other hand, buyers looking for a lightweight phone, a high-resolution display or flagship-level camera processing may find the WP68 Air 5G less compelling.

Its strengths are practical rather than flashy.

    Final Thoughts

Oukitel WP68 Air 5G is not designed to compete with ultra-thin flagship phones. Its appeal comes from a different combination of priorities: an 8000mAh battery, rugged protection, 5G connectivity, 512GB storage, a 120Hz display and a dedicated night-vision camera.

The 36GB memory figure should be understood correctly as 12GB physical RAM plus virtual expansion, but the underlying hardware remains well suited to everyday multitasking. The Dimensity 7025, Android 16 and extensive connectivity options also give the phone a more modern smartphone experience than many traditional rugged devices.

For outdoor users and anyone who values endurance and durability over portability, the WP68 Air 5G offers a particularly practical package. Its large battery and reinforced construction are not minor extras—they are the main reasons to choose this phone.
