Vaporesso ARMOUR GS2 vs ARMOUR G2 Review: Which Pod Mod Fits Your Setup?

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonSeptember 30, 2026
Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Vaporesso ARMOUR GS2 and ARMOUR G2 look like close relatives, and at first glance there is a good reason for that impression. Both use the ARMOUR G Series pod platform, both offer a 0.96-inch TFT screen, both support MTL and DTL configurations, and both use Vaporesso’s GTX coil ecosystem.

But the battery architecture changes the character of the two devices.

The ARMOUR G2 uses a built-in 3400mAh battery and is rated for up to 60W, while the ARMOUR GS2 uses one replaceable 18650 battery and reaches 80W. The GS2 also uses a 5V/2A USB-C charging system, whereas the G2 supports faster 5V/3A charging and is designed around its integrated battery.

That makes this comparison less about which device has more specifications and more about which battery design, power range and coil configuration better matches the way you use a pod mod.

ARMOUR GS2 vs ARMOUR G2: The Key Differences

Specifications can vary by regional kit, so buyers should check the exact package configuration before ordering. Vaporesso’s current product information lists these core hardware differences.

    The Battery Choice Changes Everything

The most important difference between the ARMOUR GS2 and ARMOUR G2 is hidden inside the chassis.
If you want a closer look at the newer model’s overall design and performance, read our Vaporesso ARMOUR GS2 review, which covers its 80W output, replaceable 18650 battery and GTX Dual Mesh pod system.

The ARMOUR G2 has a 3400mAh internal battery. You charge the device, unplug it and use it until the battery needs charging again. There is no separate cell to purchase or swap.

The ARMOUR GS2 takes one 18650 battery, which is not included with the kit. When the cell is depleted, you can replace it with another compatible cell rather than waiting for the built-in battery to recharge.

    Neither approach is automatically better.

An integrated battery makes the G2 straightforward. There is no need to purchase a separate 18650 or think about carrying spare cells.

The GS2 is more flexible for users who specifically want a replaceable-cell device. A spare compatible 18650 can effectively become an additional power source, while the battery itself can be replaced independently of the mod when its usable capacity eventually declines.

For someone who already owns other devices using compatible 18650 cells, the GS2 can also fit more naturally into an existing setup.

ARMOUR GS2 Has More Power, But 80W Is Not the Whole Story

The GS2 has a 5–80W output range, compared with 5–60W on the G2.

That extra 20W gives the GS2 more headroom, particularly for lower-resistance GTX coils intended for higher-power operation.

However, maximum wattage should not be treated as a quality score.

If your normal usage sits around 30–50W, the G2’s 60W ceiling may already cover what you need. Buying an 80W device does not automatically improve a setup that never operates above 50W.

The GS2’s higher ceiling matters more for users who specifically want the option to run higher-power coils.

This distinction is important because the two devices are aimed at slightly different hardware priorities:

ARMOUR G2: integrated battery + up to 60W.

    ARMOUR GS2: replaceable 18650 + up to 80W.

The Coil Difference Is More Important Than It Looks

Both devices belong to the GTX coil ecosystem, but their kit configurations are not identical.

The ARMOUR GS2 kit includes a GTX 0.3Ω Dual Mesh coil pre-installed and a GTX 0.15Ω Dual Mesh coil in the box. Vaporesso lists the ARMOUR GS2 as compatible with multiple GTX Dual Mesh and GTX Mesh options.

The ARMOUR G2 kit configuration is different. Vaporesso lists a GTX 0.6Ω Mesh coil pre-installed and a GTX 0.4Ω Dual Mesh coil in the box for the referenced kit configuration.

This means the box contents themselves hint at the different operating ranges of the two devices.

The GS2 package leans toward higher-power GTX options, while the G2 kit gives users a 0.6Ω Mesh and 0.4Ω Dual Mesh combination.

    An Important 0.15Ω Compatibility Warning

There is one detail buyers should not overlook.

Vaporesso’s current ARMOUR GS2 documentation specifically notes that the 0.15Ω Dual Mesh coil is not compatible with the ARMOUR G2. The GS2, meanwhile, is supplied with that 0.15Ω Dual Mesh coil as part of its kit.

So if you own both devices, don’t assume every GTX coil with the same resistance can simply be moved between them.

Check the exact coil construction and compatibility, not just the resistance printed on the package.

Top Airflow and Top Filling Make the Two Devices Feel Related

The GS2 and G2 share the same general pod philosophy.

Both use the ARMOUR G Series 5ml pod, with top airflow and top filling designed to make routine refilling more convenient. Vaporesso lists the pod as supporting both MTL and DTL use.

This common platform is useful if you like the ARMOUR pod system but want to choose between different battery architectures.

The important point is that changing from G2 to GS2 does not mean learning an entirely different pod ecosystem.

The larger difference is underneath the pod.

    SSS 2.0 Gives the GS2 a Hardware-Level Update

Vaporesso positions the GS2 as an evolution of the ARMOUR platform, adding SSS 2.0, upgraded top airflow and top filling, GTX Dual Mesh support, and a dual-lock system.

The SSS 2.0 element is particularly relevant to users who care about the overall pod experience rather than just output power.

Instead of treating the GS2 as simply an “80W version” of the G2, it makes more sense to see it as a different configuration built around the same ARMOUR family concept.

    The GS2 combines:

    • Replaceable 18650 power
    • 80W maximum output
    • GTX Dual Mesh support
    • Top airflow
    • Top filling
    • SSS 2.0
    • Button lock
    • Auto-lock
Vaporesso Armour G2 Pod System Kit

Vaporesso Armour GS2 Pod System Kit
Vaporesso Armour GS2 Pod System Kit

That combination gives the GS2 a more enthusiast-oriented hardware profile.

    G2’s Biggest Advantage Is Simplicity

The ARMOUR G2 takes the opposite approach.

Its 3400mAh integrated battery removes one decision from the ownership experience: you don’t need to select, purchase or carry a separate 18650 cell.

That matters more than it may seem.

With a built-in battery device, the workflow is simple:

Charge → fill the pod → vape → recharge.

There is no battery door to open and no separate cell to manage.

The G2 also supports up to 5V/3A charging, compared with the GS2’s 5V/2A charging specification.

So although the GS2 has the higher output ceiling, the G2 has a charging specification that is more aggressive on paper.

Actual charging performance can depend on the charger, cable, battery state and other factors, so rated charging current should not be interpreted as a guaranteed real-world charging time.

    Which One Is More Portable?

Interestingly, the GS2 is not the lighter device by an enormous margin, despite using a replaceable 18650 system.

    Vaporesso lists the GS2 at 126 × 39 × 28mm and 214g, while the G2 measures 113 × 39 × 28mm and weighs 222g.

So the G2 is shorter, while the GS2 is slightly lighter according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

This is a good example of why simply comparing dimensions does not tell the whole story.

The G2’s internal battery adds weight, while the GS2’s replaceable-cell design changes how the weight is distributed.

For pocket use, the difference is unlikely to be determined by a few millimeters alone. Pod shape, grip, airflow position and personal preference will matter as well.

The Screens Are Similar, But the User Experience Is Not Identical

Both devices use a 0.96-inch TFT display.

The screen is large enough to keep the essential information visible without turning the devices into oversized touchscreen mods.

The GS2 and G2 also offer different UI themes. Vaporesso lists three themes for each device, with the G2 using Classic, Dream and Motor themes and the GS2 using Classic, Meteor and Engine themes.

In everyday use, however, the more meaningful difference is not the theme selection.

It is the way each device manages its battery system.

The G2 reports and manages an integrated 3400mAh battery.

The GS2 has to monitor a removable 18650 and provide appropriate battery protection.

Dual-Lock Design Is Useful on Both Models

Both the ARMOUR G2 and GS2 incorporate button lock and auto-lock functionality. Vaporesso lists this dual-safety approach as one of the shared features of the two models.

This is more useful than it sounds for a pocketable device.

A conventional fire button can be pressed accidentally when a device is carried in a pocket or bag. Having a separate locking mechanism provides an additional way to prevent unintended activation.

The GS2 combines this with its replaceable-battery architecture, while the G2 combines it with the internal 3400mAh battery.

ARMOUR GS2 vs ARMOUR G2: Battery Life Is Harder to Compare Than the Numbers Suggest

It would be tempting to compare 3400mAh on the G2 with a particular 18650 capacity and declare a winner.

    That would be misleading.

The GS2 does not have one fixed battery capacity because the 18650 is purchased separately. Different compatible cells can have different capacities and discharge characteristics.

More importantly, battery runtime depends on output power.

A user running the GS2 at 70–80W is going to place a very different demand on the battery than someone using it at 25–30W.

Likewise, the G2’s 3400mAh rating does not guarantee a particular number of hours because actual runtime depends on wattage, puff duration, coil resistance and frequency of use.

For this reason, the useful comparison is:

G2 = predictable integrated battery capacity

    GS2 = replaceable battery flexibility

That’s more meaningful than treating the two battery numbers as directly interchangeable.

Which Device Makes More Sense for Different Users?

Rather than declaring one model universally better, the choice becomes clearer when you match the hardware to your priorities.

Choose the ARMOUR G2 if you want:

    • A built-in 3400mAh battery
    • Up to 60W output
    • Faster rated USB-C charging
    • A shorter chassis
    • No need to purchase separate 18650 batteries
    • A straightforward pod-mod setup
    • Access to the ARMOUR G Series pod ecosystem

The G2 is the simpler ownership proposition.

You charge the integrated battery and don’t have to manage a separate cell.

Choose the ARMOUR GS2 if you want:

    • A replaceable 18650 battery
    • Up to 80W output
    • Higher-power GTX coil options
    • GTX Dual Mesh compatibility
    • SSS 2.0
    • Greater battery flexibility
    • The ability to carry a spare compatible battery

The GS2 is more interesting for users who specifically want a replaceable-cell pod mod rather than simply a higher-wattage number.

ARMOUR GS2 vs ARMOUR G2 for Coil Selection

If your coil choice is already driving the purchase decision, the difference becomes even clearer.

The GS2’s included 0.15Ω and 0.3Ω Dual Mesh configuration makes it the more natural choice for users interested in the higher-power side of the GTX platform.

If you’re deciding between the higher-power GTX options, our 0.15Ω vs 0.3Ω GTX coil guide explains the differences in wattage, battery demand, vapor production and everyday use.

The G2’s referenced kit instead includes 0.6Ω Mesh and 0.4Ω Dual Mesh coils.

That does not mean one device can only be used with one style.

The ARMOUR G Series platform supports a range of GTX coils, but the exact compatible resistance and coil construction should always be checked before purchasing replacements.

For example, our GTX coil comparison guide can help explain why 0.15Ω and 0.3Ω coils operate at different power levels and what that means for battery and e-liquid consumption.

What I Like About the GS2

The GS2’s biggest strength is that its features work together rather than existing as isolated specifications.

The replaceable 18650 makes sense alongside the 80W output.

The higher output makes sense alongside the 0.15Ω and 0.3Ω Dual Mesh options.

The SSS 2.0 and top airflow design complement the updated pod platform.

And the dual-lock system addresses a practical issue with carrying a button-operated device.

That makes the GS2 feel like a deliberate upgrade to the ARMOUR concept rather than simply a cosmetic refresh.

What I Like About the G2

The G2 has a different kind of appeal.

Its 3400mAh integrated battery and 60W maximum output create a simpler combination for users who don’t want to think about external cells.

The shorter body also gives it a slightly different physical profile.

And because it shares the ARMOUR G Series pod concept, choosing the G2 doesn’t mean giving up the broader GTX ecosystem.

Its appeal is therefore less about maximum specifications and more about simplicity and an integrated power system.

ARMOUR GS2 vs ARMOUR G2: Which Should You Buy?

The answer depends on what you expect from the battery and coil system.

The ARMOUR G2 is the straightforward choice for someone who wants an integrated 3400mAh battery, up to 60W output and faster rated USB-C charging without managing an external cell.

The ARMOUR GS2 is the more flexible option for someone who specifically wants a replaceable 18650, up to 80W output, GTX Dual Mesh compatibility and the ability to carry spare batteries.

The key point is that the GS2 isn’t simply “better because it has 80W,” and the G2 isn’t automatically preferable because it has a 3400mAh battery.

    They solve different problems.

If replaceable battery flexibility and higher-power GTX coils are important, the GS2 is the more relevant configuration.

If simple charging and an integrated battery matter more, the G2’s design is easier to live with.

    Final Verdict

The ARMOUR G2 and ARMOUR GS2 are close enough to share a family identity but different enough that choosing between them should come down to hardware priorities.

The G2 focuses on an integrated 3400mAh battery, 60W output and 3A-rated USB-C charging, while the GS2 moves to a replaceable 18650, 80W output and a more flexible higher-power GTX configuration. Both retain the ARMOUR G Series 5ml pod concept, top airflow, top filling, TFT display and dual-lock approach.

For buyers comparing these two models, the most useful question isn’t “Which one has better specifications?”

    It’s:

Do you want a simpler built-in battery system, or a replaceable 18650 platform with more power headroom?

That single decision explains most of the difference between the ARMOUR G2 and ARMOUR GS2.
