Vido’s recently released an upgrade of their W10 Tablet PC, the VIDO W10 Elite. This release comes with some huge upgrades, the RAM goes from 2GB to 4GB and from 32GB, to a massive 128GB ROM. I am not sure why they released this device under the W10 banner as the improvements are huge as they are in number. The only thing they have in common is the screen size at 10.1″. The device looks like the Microsoft Surface 3, and boy do you get some bang for your buck with the VIDO W10 Elite. We thought we would give this device the once over and report back to you guys on our findings.
Design
As the name suggests the Vido W10 Elite Version is an upgrade of the Vido W10. At first glance over the device it looks beautifully slim and fantastic to hold.Vido have packed a fair bit into the W10 Elite and it comes with a 10.1 inch IPS OGS Touch Screen with 1920 x 1200, which looks stunning, gives impressive color and clarity and the IPS technology provides wide viewing angles of 178 degrees.
The bottom of the device sports a magnetic docking port, for users to take advantage of adding a keyboard(purchased separately). Around the rear of the device is a metal stand, and it comes with heaps of interface options, such as fully fledged USB 3.0 port and a USB Type-C port on the right side. The W10 Elite packs Dual AAC high end speakers which increases volume by 300%.
The device also comes with a 3.5mm jack for headphones or external speakers,and 5G Wifi technology support, Supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Dual band Wifi 2.4GHz & 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.0 and Micro HDMI, and OTG.In the camera department we have 5MP shooter at the back and 2.0MP selfie cam on the front, comes with Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, and more functionality, however you can only capture 720p@30fps HD video recording.
The device has a dock support below and a light sensor to make viewing more pleasurable.The whole tablet weight and dimensions are,weight is 645 grams, dimensions are 26.20 cm x 16.70 cm x 0.92 cm.Unfortunately it is only offered in Black at this stage, but we think more color options will become available in the future.
Hardware
It is powered by an Intel Cherry Trail X7 Z8700 64bit Quad Core 1.6GHz which can go up to 2.4GHz and works on Ultra Low Voltage platform to get the most out of the battery and quad-core processing provide maximum high-efficiency power to go. Intel Turbo Boost Technology delivers dynamic extra power when you need it.It is coupled with Intel HD Graphics Gen8 GPU On-processor graphics with shared video memory providing high image quality, better speed for Internet use, basic photo editing and casual gaming.
The Vido W10 Elite Version also comes packed with a gravity sensor, proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor with different type of MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, as far as the battery backup and capacity of the tablet is Lithium-ion 3.7V / 7,300 mAh battery and video play time up to 10.4 hours
RAM & Storage
It comes with a very respectable 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a massive 128GB eMMC 5.0 inbuilt storage. It also gives room to expand with support for 64GB SD Card.The LPDDR3 gives the device a much stronger performance overall and is does extremely well in energy efficiency.The very large eMMC 128GB storage runs much more fluidly, with no lag at all and it is apparent when playing games etc.
Battery
The Vido W10 Elite comes with an inbuilt 3.7V / 7300mAh Lithium-ion Battery that supports fast charge technology.This gives you a staggering video play time of up to 10.4 hours
Windows 10 OS
The VIido W10 Elite is not a dual boot device runs on the WIndows 10 OS, which , since bringing back the popular start menu from Windows 7 has become a bit more user friendly. I found a device is much better with the single OS and am very glad Vido didnt venture there and went only for Windows 10.
Conclusion
The VIDO W10 Elite is a very stable, fast and efficient tablet, By adding a keyboard you will have yourself a very capable laptop/Tablet.It is very much comparable to the likes of Microsoft Surface series tablets in terms of specs, and at $391 the Vido W10 Elite offers flagship tablet specs.
