Igeekphone News, October 28th: Technology media MacRumors published a blog post yesterday (October 27th), sorting out and summarizing relevant leaked information, stating that Apple is expected to upgrade and launch the M6 MacBook Pro at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027. And it is accompanied by major product line adjustments.
According to multiple rumors, the M5 Pro/Max models will be released in early 2026, but this will be the end of the current design language. Apple is developing a brand-new MacBook Pro with the code names K114 and K116, which is expected to bring about a complete revolution from the inside out. The release date may be set between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027.
In terms of the screen, according to display analyst Ross Young and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the M6 MacBook Pro will abandon the Mini LED and be equipped with an OLED display for the first time. This will bring higher brightness, purer blacks and longer battery life.

Meanwhile, the “notch” at the top of the screen will be replaced by a punch-hole camera, with a design concept similar to the Dynamic Island of the iPhone. Thanks to the thinner feature of OLED panels, the overall design of the device will also become “slimmer and lighter”, reversing the trend of heavier bodies since the 2021 model.
In terms of chips, the core of the new generation of models will be the M6 series chips. This chip is expected to be manufactured using the industry-leading 2-nanometer process, achieving another generational leap in performance and energy efficiency.
In addition, it is reported that Apple may draw on the packaging technology of the iPhone A20 chip and adopt the “Wafer-level Multi-Chip Module” (WMCM) packaging process.
Igeekphone Note: WMCM is an advanced chip packaging technology that can tightly package multiple chips with different functions (such as CPU, GPU, and memory) together like assembling Lego blocks, thereby enhancing overall performance and efficiency.
In terms of interaction, analysts Ming-Kuo ð« youdaoplaceholder4 ¹ and Mark Gurman confirmed that Apple will equip the MacBook Pro with touch for the first time This screen will adopt On-cell (a technology that integrates the touch sensor directly inside the display panel, eliminating the need for an additional independent touch layer. This enables the screen to be made thinner and have better light transmission. Touch technology integrates touch sensors directly into the display panel, further enhancing the experience.
To address the issue of screen shaking during touch operations, Apple has specially developed enhanced hinges and screen hardware. In addition, Apple is also studying the addition of cellular network functionality to its Mac product line. The M6 MacBook Pro may be equipped with a second-generation self-developed 5G modem that supports millimeter-wave technology.
In terms of pricing, Gurman predicts that the price of the new MacBook Pro will have a “considerable increase”, and the starting prices of the 14-inch and 16-inch models may be several hundred dollars higher than the current $1,999 and $2,499 respectively.
