Igeekphone reported on January 3rd that according to TrendForce’s analysis, Apple plans to launch a 12.9-inch MacBook in the spring of 2026 (March to April). This model is targeted at the entry-level to mid-range market and focuses on cost-effectiveness.
The most remarkable feature of this device is that it will be equipped with the same A18 Pro chip as the iPhone 16 Pro, featuring a 6-core CPU, a 6-core GPU and a 16-core neural network engine. Its performance is comparable to that of the M1 chip.

It is expected to be equipped with only 8GB of memory. Currently, the starting memory for both the MacBook Air and Pro series is 16GB. Overall, it can smoothly handle daily tasks such as document editing, web browsing, 4K video playback, and light photo editing.
Continuing the low-power characteristics of the A series chips, it adopts a fanless design, eliminating the need for heat dissipation pressure on the body; combined with a large-capacity battery, the video playback duration can reach 15-18 hours, comparable to the battery life of the MacBook Air.
It should be noted that since the chip does not support Thunderbolt technology, it will be equipped with a regular USB-C interface. As a result, the data transmission speed and the external display function will be limited.

The screen size is set at 12.9 inches, which is consistent with some iPad Air and iPad Pro models and is smaller than the 13.6-inch screen of the MacBook Air.
The design will draw inspiration from the discontinued 12-inch MacBook, emphasizing ultra-thinness and portability. It will also feature a variety of colorful shells in colors such as silver, blue, pink, and yellow, with a style similar to iMac.
This low-priced MacBook is targeted at the entry-level to mid-range market. The starting price in the US is expected to be between $599 and $899, which is approximately 4,185 to 6,282 yuan in RMB.
