BD Vape Rayden 100 Kit Review: A 100W Mod Built for Control, Not Complexity

Some vape kits try to impress by adding as many features as possible. The BD Vape Rayden 100 Kit with Blaster 2 Sub-ohm Tank takes a more enthusiast-focused route. It combines a single external-battery mod with a tank designed for direct-to-lung vaping, then puts most of the attention on power delivery and how that power can be shaped.

The result is a kit that feels less like a beginner device and more like a practical setup for someone who already knows what kind of vaping experience they want.

The headline number is 100 watts, but that isn’t really the most interesting part of the Rayden 100. The more useful question is what you can do with those watts.

The Rayden 100 Is About Having Options

The Rayden 100 V3 IM mod is powered by the XT Ultra GT 100 V1.1 chipset and can deliver between 5W and 100W. It also supports output from 1V to 8V.

On paper, that sounds like a typical regulated box mod.

In actual use, the important distinction is the range of operating styles available. The mod provides MTL, Soft, Normal, Hard, and Pro power modes, along with Voltage and Bypass modes.

That makes the Rayden 100 more adaptable than a device that simply lets you turn wattage up or down.

For example, Soft mode can make the initial power delivery gentler, while Hard provides a stronger initial push. Normal sits between those approaches for everyday use. The Pro mode is aimed at users who want to create their own power behavior rather than relying entirely on preset profiles.

This is a meaningful difference for experienced users. Instead of asking only “What wattage should I use?”, the Rayden 100 lets you think about how the power arrives.

The Pro Mode Is Where the Mod Gets Interesting

The Pro mode supports custom presets with adjustable duration and power, with the available settings covering 0–8 seconds and 5–100W.

This isn’t a feature everyone needs.

But for an enthusiast, it can be useful because different coils can respond differently to the same nominal wattage. A custom power profile gives you another way to tune the initial part of a puff without constantly changing the main wattage setting.

That’s the sort of feature that separates an enthusiast-oriented mod from a basic regulated device.

You can leave the Rayden 100 in a straightforward Normal setting and use it like a conventional mod, or spend more time experimenting with its power behavior.

    The choice is yours.

One External Battery Changes the Equation

The Rayden 100 uses a single 21700 battery, while also supporting an 18650 battery when the appropriate adapter is used. The battery is not included with the kit.

This is important when considering the device for everyday use.

An external-battery mod gives you a different ownership model from a built-in-battery pod or compact mod. When the battery needs recharging, you can carry a spare compatible cell rather than waiting for the entire device to recharge.

    There is also a trade-off.

You need to buy and maintain appropriate batteries separately, and battery handling becomes part of responsible ownership. The Rayden 100 therefore makes more sense for an experienced user who is already comfortable with external-cell devices.

A Small Screen With a Lot to Do

The mod uses a 1.05-inch HD TFT display.

A screen this size isn’t intended to turn the Rayden 100 into a miniature smartphone. Its real job is to make the important settings visible without making the device unnecessarily large.

That’s a sensible approach for a box mod.

The screen provides a visual interface for the different operating modes and settings, while the physical controls handle the adjustments.

The result is a device that retains the familiar physical interaction of a traditional mod instead of hiding everything behind menus.

The Blaster 2 Is More Than Just a Tank Included in the Box

The other half of the kit is the BD Vape Blaster 2 Sub-ohm Tank.

It is available with 5ml or 7ml capacity, depending on the configuration, and uses a top-fill design with adjustable top airflow.

Those details are important because they complement the Rayden 100’s high-output design.

A 100W mod paired with a restrictive pod would create an obvious mismatch. The Blaster 2 is instead designed around the kind of higher-airflow vaping that makes a regulated mod’s higher power range useful.

The top airflow is particularly practical for users who like to adjust the draw without having to reach underneath the tank.

    Why Top Airflow Matters

Airflow is one of the easiest ways to change the personality of a sub-ohm setup.

A more open airflow can produce a looser draw and generally supports larger vapor production. Closing the airflow creates a more restricted sensation and can make the vape feel denser.

The Blaster 2 puts that adjustment at the top of the tank.

That design also has a practical advantage: the airflow control isn’t located underneath the tank where it can be difficult to reach once the device is standing upright.

For an everyday setup, small ergonomic decisions like this can matter more than flashy specifications.

5ml or 7ml: Which Capacity Makes More Sense?

The available Blaster 2 configurations offer 5ml and 7ml capacities.

The larger option is naturally more convenient for someone who doesn’t want to refill frequently.

The 5ml version, meanwhile, may be preferable to users who want a slightly more restrained setup or who simply don’t need the additional capacity.

Either way, the capacity fits the general philosophy of the kit: this isn’t intended to be a tiny pocket pod that you refill occasionally. It’s a more substantial setup intended for users who expect regular sub-ohm use.

Six Power Levels, But They Aren’t Six Different Devices

The Rayden 100 is described as offering six power levels, with its operating modes including MTL, Soft, Normal, Hard, Pro, plus Voltage/Bypass functionality.

The useful way to look at these modes isn’t as a checklist.

They’re tools for matching the device to different situations.

MTL is the outlier because the Rayden 100 and Blaster 2 combination is otherwise much more naturally suited to open-airflow vaping. The Soft, Normal, and Hard settings are more immediately relevant to users who want to adjust the character of the initial hit.

The Pro mode is there for users who want even more control.

This layered approach means beginners can leave the device relatively simple while experienced users can dig deeper.

A Kit for People Who Know Why They Want 100W

The biggest mistake would be buying the Rayden 100 simply because “100W” sounds better than 80W or 60W.

Most users don’t need 100 watts all the time.

The advantage of having that headroom is that the device doesn’t have to operate close to its maximum output during normal use. Depending on the installed coil and preferred airflow, you can use considerably less power while retaining plenty of adjustment room.

That’s where the Rayden 100 becomes more convincing.

It gives an enthusiast room to experiment without forcing them to operate at maximum output.

What Kind of User Fits the Rayden 100?

This kit makes the most sense for an experienced adult user who wants:

    • A regulated external-battery mod
    • Up to 100W of adjustable output
    • Support for 21700 or 18650 batteries
    • Multiple power-delivery profiles
    • A dedicated sub-ohm tank
    • Adjustable top airflow
    • A larger e-liquid capacity
    • More control than a basic pod system

It is less compelling for someone whose priorities are extreme portability and minimum maintenance.

A compact pod is simply easier to carry.

The Rayden 100 is about having a complete, configurable setup.

What I Like About the Concept

The strongest aspect of this kit is how well its two major components fit together.

The mod provides substantial power and detailed control.

The Blaster 2 provides the airflow and tank capacity expected from a sub-ohm setup.

Neither component feels like an arbitrary accessory added to increase the package size.

The combination has a clear purpose.

The external 21700/18650 battery system also gives the device a practical advantage for users who prefer removable cells, while the Pro mode gives enthusiasts a reason to spend time learning the device rather than simply setting a wattage and forgetting about it.

    What to Keep in Mind

The Rayden 100 is not a maintenance-free device.

External batteries require proper handling. The tank also requires regular coil replacement and cleaning, particularly if you frequently change e-liquid flavors.

The size is another consideration. A 100W single-battery mod and sub-ohm tank will naturally be more substantial than a small pod.

And while the extensive modes are useful, they can be unnecessary if you simply want a device that fires at one fixed wattage.

In other words, the Rayden 100 rewards users who actually want control.

    Final Verdict

BD Vape Rayden 100 Kit with Blaster 2 Sub-ohm Tank is best understood as an enthusiast setup rather than another generic 100W starter kit.

Its strength isn’t the maximum wattage alone. The combination of the XT Ultra GT 100 V1.1 chipset, customizable power behavior, 21700/18650 battery support, and Blaster 2’s adjustable top airflow gives the kit a much more deliberate identity.

The 5ml/7ml tank options also make it better suited to regular sub-ohm use than a small pod-style setup.

If you already understand external batteries, sub-ohm tanks, and adjustable power, the Rayden 100 offers plenty of room to personalize the experience.

If your priority is simplicity above everything else, there are smaller and easier devices available.

The Rayden 100 isn’t trying to make advanced vaping simpler. It is trying to make advanced control more accessible.
