The Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K, which is the name of this magical device, has a huge 6.4″ screen in a body that seems to be almost the same size as an iPhone 7 Plus. Xiaomi achieved this by using every inch of the front of the device to the maximum, including rounding out the display at the corners to remove the tiniest of borders.

In case you’re wondering where are the sensors that usually grace the top of every smartphone’s display, you’ll be even more surprised by the answer. Xiaomi replaced the optical proximity sensor by an ultrasonic one, and the earpiece by a cantilever piezoelectric ceramic actuator. That jargon means that it uses the metallic frame to generate sound.

The camera has been reduced in size and moved to the bottom right corner of the Mi Mix 18K. If you need to take a selfie, you can rotate the device for a better angle. Oh and the Mix obviously has soft keys that auto-hide to make the most out of the screen estate on the front.

Designed for the user Mi MIX 18K pushes every boundary for an unparalleled experience of easy grip and optimum listening combined with minimal and innovative design. Like a piece of polished ceramic, smooth and elegant envelop of the Mi MIX 18K has no edges nor corners.

Curved on each side, the revolutionary full-screen has a beveled chamfer, an additional singularity to its disruptive appearance. Extended to the maximum, the use surface has no constraint. No buttons. No loudspeakers. The sound is conveyed through vibrations thanks to its piezoelectric ceramic technology.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 18K features a staggering 6.4-inches IPS LCD edgeless display with 2040×1080 FHD resolution and 362 PPI pixel density. Display brightness is 500 nit, which allows to reduce power consumption and extend operating time. It will not leave user squinting to make out something on a sunny day. Mi MIX 18K boasts 1300: 1 contrast ratio, providing sharp and precise image quality. Screen to body ratio is 91.3 %.

In an attempt to make a screen workspace wider, the front-facing camera is made 50 % smaller and is relocated to the bottom of the screen. That is where proximity sensor also sits. Instead of regular speakers, piezoelectric acoustic technology was applied.

Megascopic camera The flagship was prepped with a 16 MP PDAF main camera with dual-LED flash and f / 2.0 aperture. It is able to record 4K / 1080p / 720p at 30 fps and roll in slow-motion at 120 fps. It also features autofocus phase detection, facial recognition, and panorama mode.

Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 821 processor 2.35GHz Quad-Core, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of UFS 2.0 storage, a 192Hz / 24-bit DAC chip for high-resolution audio, an NFC chip making it Mi Pay-ready, and a 4,400 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The rear camera is a 16MP Phase Detection Autofocus lens, and there’s a fingerprint reader beneath it.
