Google’s Google Photos app is experiencing compatibility issues that are causing it to crash when it launches, as Apple released its iOS 16.3.1 update yesterday. Google immediately updated the app today, and the issue has been fixed in the latest version 6.23.1.
Google says in the 6.23.1 update to Google Photos:
Thanks for using Google Photos. The new version fixes some bugs and improves performance.
We fixed a number of issues reported by users and added some new features to enhance the user editing experience.
Google didn’t explicitly mention fixing the Google Photos app crash in the iOS 16.3.1 update in its update log, but according to iPhone incanada.ca and users’ observations, it did fix the crash.
