Here is everything you need to know about about the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 ahead of its launch

As the Note 10’s launch gets closer and closer, more leaks and renders are surfacing every day.  Other than the incremental upgrades that have now become a rather mundane but necessary part of the yearly cycles, Samsung this year is coming up with a lot of exciting changes for its Note 10 series. Starting off with the rumors which have been confirmed by the reputable @OnLeaks that the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will have a significant display size and battery size difference.

    Galaxy Note 10 variants

According to @OnLeaks, Note 10 Plus will have a larger display size of 6.8-inch (Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED HDR10+) which will be complemented by a 4,300 mAh battery. The Note 10 Plus, on the other hand, will have a smaller display size of 6.3-inch (Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED HDR10+) with a relatively smaller battery of 3,600 mAh battery. This was further verified by the renders provided by @OnLeaks which shows the size difference between the two variants.

    Improved charging

A latest tweet by Industry’s most reputable Samsung news leaker, Ice Universe stated that the upcoming Note 10 will come with a 25 Watt charging but will not support 45W fast charging. However, the Plus model will support 45W fast charging but will come with 25W charging head by default. So, the consumer will have to pay for the 45W charger separately for a much faster experience.

This is a welcoming but a long-overdue upgrade from Samsung considering previous Samsung flagships supported Qualcomm’s outdated ‘Quick Charge 2.0 standard’.

    Design Upgrades

No Bixby button and headphone jack

Initially, there were a lot of rumors which stated that this year’s Galaxy Note 10 will not feature any buttons. While those rumors turned out to be false, the infamous Bixby button, however, is set to be removed from the Note line-up. This may be welcoming news for a lot of Samsung fans, but the removal of the headphone jack will disappoint a lot of Samsung fans and will usher the official end of the headphone jack as Samsung was the last major company to still feature the headphone jack in its flagship lineup.

Infinity O design and smaller side bezels

Continuing with its infinity O design, the Galaxy Note 10 will also be featuring the popular punch-hole display, but with a different alignment. Unlike the Galaxy S10 series which featured the punch-hole at the top right corner, the Note 10 will be featuring the punch-hole at the top center of its display, making the overall look more uniform and appealing.

    Camera Upgrades

It seems that the quad-camera set-up is finally making its way towards the Note line-up. According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus will be featuring a vertically aligned quad-camera set-up which will include a 12MP dual-pixel primary sensor with f.1.5-f/2.4 variable aperture, 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, a 16MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and a fourth TOF (time of flight) sensor. The standard Note 10 however, will not be featuring a quad-camera set-up, as it will not have a TOF sensor.

    Updated Processor

Another upgrade that the Note line-up is getting which the S10 line-up did not is a slight improvement in the processor department. Typically, Samsung uses the same processors for its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, however, this year Samsung is doing things a bit different. As per the tweet shared by Ice Universe, Samsung will be using Exynos 9825 or Snapdragon 855 Plus for the upcoming Note 10 and Note 10 Plus.

Not much is known about the Exynos 9825 processor but one of the major differences between 9825 and Exynos 9820 is that the 9825 is a 7nm processor while the Exynos 9820 is an 8nm processor. An obvious advantage that Exynos 9825 provides is slightly better benchmarks.

While the Snapdragon 855+ doesn’t provide any increase in benchmarks as both Snapdragon 855 and 855+ are both 7nm processors. The processor, however, does provide marginally better performances in AR, VR and AI thanks to small changes in CPU and GPU specs. Furthermore, Qualcomm has also touted the processor to provide better 5G experience than the current 855 which makes it the perfect match for the Galaxy Note 10 5G variant.

Lastly, Galaxy Note line-up’s iconic S Pen stylus is also getting new features. Last year’s S Pen impressed a lot of tech reviewers with its feature of letting the user switch camera mods from rear to selfie camera and vice versa, all without touching the screen of the phone. This year’s S Pen is getting even better with the introduction of new and improved gesture features that allow users to interact with Samsung’s UI without having to touch the screen.

Here are the full specifications of the two variants. These specifications are not official but have been verified by the reputable leaker @OnLeaks.
