Nokia is back. The brand controlled by HDM Global was the most talked about at the Mobile World Congress 2018 thanks to the presentation of its new smartphones. Nokia 7 Plus is part of a small group of newcomers, and after a few weeks of comprehensive testing, we’re now ready to evaluate this device. So will users warm up to this new Android One smartphone? And Xiaomi took trim bezel design to the nth degree, delivering a powerful, attractive and affordable phone like no other. Its 2018 follow-up, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, follows a similar footprint, but amps up the internal power and goes all iPhone X in its dual camera approach.

Nokia 7 Plus

The assembly and manufacturing of the Nokia 7 Plus are impeccable. HMD Global has demonstrated that despite the fact that several design changes (beautiful or ugly) have gone by, it has always maintained an excellent level of build quality. The Nokia logo on the body and the accents around the camera, fingerprint reader and display are also copper-colored. The smartphone is available in white or black, both with copper accents. The 6 inch-panel in an 18:9 format with 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution has bright and pleasant colors (more than my beloved Pixel, I have to admit) and has sufficient brightness for any kind of indoor or outdoor lighting.

The Nokia 7 Plus comes installed with the latest version of Android Oreo 8.1 without any customization. The SoC used on this smartphone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660. The chip features an octa-core CPU (4×2.2 GHz Kryo 206 and 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260) and 4GB of RAM. The chip keeps your smartphone running smoothly in all situations, including social media, photo editing, file operations, or browsing the internet. The Adreno 512 GPU ensures that most games run without any problems. The internal memory is 64GB and is expandable with a microSD card.

It comes with Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC, and a slot for the second SIM card if you want to forgo expanding the memory. The Nokia 7 Plus packs a double rear camera. The first camera is a 12-megapixel f/1.8 wide-angle lens, while the second is a 13-megapixel f/2.6 lens with a 2x telephoto lens. Both lenses are made in collaboration with Zeiss and the main camera also has an autofocus PDAF phase detection that uses dual pixel technology and is incredibly fast. The 16-megapixel selfie camera also has Zeiss lenses with a focal aperture of f/2.0. Nokia 7 Plus is available in just $199.99 On Lightinthebox at the limited Flash sale.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is coming with Rear ceramic gets dirty easily but is cleaned just as easily. It has the advantage of not picking up those micrographs that age the smartphone more quickly. Change the position of the camera (now double) and in our opinion this new configuration makes him lose a little ‘style, but it is a partly subjective assessment. It remains unfortunately not resistant to water and dust. The first big news of this smartphone we find the processor that is now the Snapdragon 845 octa-core 2.8 GHz. A nice step ahead of the already excellent processor of Mi Mix 2. We then have 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal memory unfortunately not expandable.

In fact, the removable trolley only reserves two slots for two nanoSIM. Good connectivity: LTE up to 1024 Mbps, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and even NFC. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is equipped with a dual camera system. They are two 12 megapixels optically stabilized. The first is a “classic” ƒ / 1.8, while the second is a ƒ / 2.4 zoom 2X, very convenient when you’re a tourist and you can not get too close to the subjects to be framed. Also, discourage videos in 4Kwhich also enjoy electronic stabilization. Another novelty is the artificial intelligence activated in the camera. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is marketed with Android Oreo 8.0 and customized with the Xiaomi MIUI 9.5 interface.

Personalization is as important as usual and adds many useful or fun features to the end user. The battery remains that of 3400 mAh and the performances are similar to those of the previous model. The presence of fast recharge is very welcome and now also the wireless recharge. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is the right update of the previous model and the news is not new: improved camera, wireless charging and new processor. It is the best that Xiaomi can offer you at the moment and does it as usual at an aggressive price. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is available in just $524.95 On Lightinthebox at the limited Flash sale.
