TSMC as one of the biggest factories to produce 5nm chipset has planned to produce 5nm process chipset in the first half year.
In the Q3 of 2020, 5nm chipset will be in stock in peak. It is said that Iphone 12 series and Huawei Mate 40 series will be the first 5nm chipset smartphone.
After 7nm process, 5nm will be the other bestseller, Right now 5nm process chipset has two versions, N5, N5P, N5 version improves 15% performance higher than that of 7nm, but reduces 30% power consumption , the crystal density increases 80%, N5p is 7% stronger than N5 in performance, 15% lower in power consumption. 5nm N5 version will start to produce in mass this year, but N5P chipset will start to produce in 2021.
Currently, 5nm chipset investing expenditure has been over 0.5 billion dollars. Currently only Huawei and Apple can first use this chipset. It is said that Huawei will release two 5nm chipsets this year, one is for Kirin series phones, such as Kirin 990, maybe this year, named as Kirin 1020.

As we know, Kirin 1020 chipset performance enhances 50% higher than Kirin 990. The CPU bit upgrades from Cortex A76 to Cortex A78, over Snapdragon 865 Cortex-A77, meanwhile, Kirin 1020 will integrate 5G network.
