Huawei traditionally launches a new high-end smartphone of the P series. The P30 series was introduced in 2019 and consists of three models; Huawei P30, P30 Pro and P30 Lite. Logically, you would think that the P40 series will be launched in 2020. However, three new brand applications show that Huawei is considering making a name change and/or launching more P series models.
Yesterday, Huawei Technologies submitted three trademark applications to the IPO (Intellectual Property Office) of the United Kingdom. This refers to the names P300, P400, and P500.
The three registered trademarks are classified as Class 9, with the description; ‘smartphones; mobile phones; tablets’. The requests were sent by Forresters of England, recently this company also registered the names Huawei Air Glass and SuperSensing, probably destined for the Mate 30 series that is expected for October this year.
Huawei had never launched a P-series smartphone with a hundred in the model name before. Therefore, it is unknown what models it will be. Perhaps Huawei its next flagship will not call the P40, but the P400. The P300 could become the P40 Lite, while the P500 becomes the name of the P40 Pro.
However, it is also possible that Huawei wants to add additional models to its P series. The company has already requested the name of Huawei P40 in October 2017. Therefore, it is not said that the P40 will not launch. In addition, it takes another half a year before the new premium P series smartphones are expected.
Huawei always launches its new P series models in the first half of the year, followed by Mate smartphones in the second half of the year. The Huawei Mate 30 series is expected for October, also within this series, a Lite and Pro model will be launched. The name Mate 30 already assured the company in July 2018. It is difficult to predict whether the Huawei P300, P400 and P500 will also be presented this year. We will watch it for you.
