A new leak suggests that iQOO is preparing a major hardware upgrade for its next-generation flagship smartphone. According to a well-known Chinese tipster, a prototype powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform is currently undergoing internal testing with several high-end components, including flagship-grade stereo speakers and an enormous battery.
The device is widely believed to be the iQOO 16, although the company has yet to officially confirm its identity.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Prototype Under Evaluation
Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station’s affiliate account “Digital Xiaoliantianzhan” recently revealed that a smartphone manufacturer is testing a prototype based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform. One of the key areas of evaluation is a pair of 1115 high-specification symmetrical stereo speakers, which are expected to deliver a more balanced and immersive audio experience.
The leak also outlines several premium hardware features currently being tested on the prototype, including:
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset
- 1115 symmetrical dual stereo speakers
- 0916-series X-axis linear vibration motor
- Dedicated display enhancement chip
- 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner
- IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance
- USB 3.2 connectivity
- Anti-reflective (AR) display coating
- OV50Q main camera sensor
These specifications indicate that the upcoming device is targeting the premium flagship smartphone segment with a strong emphasis on gaming, multimedia performance, and overall user experience.
Around 8,500mAh Battery Could Be Included
The discussion continued in the comments section of the original post, where users asked the tipster for additional details.
When asked whether the device would feature a “quadrilateral” design, the tipster responded that it was “not necessarily”, suggesting that the final industrial design has not yet been confirmed or disclosed.
More notably, when questioned about battery capacity, the tipster replied that the phone would feature “around 8,500mAh.”

If accurate, such a battery would represent one of the largest capacities ever offered in a mainstream flagship smartphone. Combined with the efficiency improvements expected from Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor, the device could deliver exceptional battery life while maintaining top-tier performance.
Expected to Be the iQOO 16
Although the leak does not explicitly identify the smartphone, Chinese media and industry observers believe the prototype is most likely the iQOO 16.
Previous reports have already suggested that iQOO’s next flagship will introduce significant upgrades across display, battery, audio, and camera systems, making it a strong contender in the 2026 flagship smartphone market.
New vivo Device Recently Received Certification
Adding further credibility to the speculation, a new vivo smartphone carrying the model number V2606A received regulatory approval in China on July 1.
While the certification documents do not reveal the commercial name, industry sources believe the model could belong either to the upcoming vivo X500 series or the anticipated iQOO 16 lineup.
More information is expected to emerge in the coming months as vivo and iQOO prepare their next generation of flagship smartphones.
Outlook
Although the information remains based on early prototype testing and unofficial leaks, the rumored hardware paints an ambitious picture for the iQOO 16. A combination of Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, an approximately 8,500mAh battery, flagship stereo speakers, advanced haptics, and premium display technologies could make it one of the most feature-rich Android flagships of its generation.
As with all pre-release reports, these specifications should be treated as provisional until officially confirmed by iQOO.
