On July 28th, Igeekphone reported that last week, Lu Weibing, the president of Xiaomi Group, previewed the Xiaomi 16 Ultra in advance. He said, “I’m very confident that the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will reach a new height in mobile imaging. Stay tuned.” Lu Weibing’s early preheating of the Xiaomi 16 Ultra seems to indicate that the device will be released ahead of schedule.
The blogger Digital Chat Station hinted that the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will support continuous optical zoom. This device is equipped with a 200-megapixel large sensor and a multi-group periscope solution. The dual-light zoom segments share the CMOS, making continuous zoom smoother.
It is well known that multi-zoom of smart phones has been widely adopted in flagship products. However, during the zooming process, it is inevitable that there will be situations such as poor picture quality, shaking and out-of-focus.

The advantage of continuous optical zoom lies in the fact that during the image zooming process, the image quality can maintain the same level and color accuracy. It can achieve clear imaging at every zoom point from portrait to telephoto without digital cropping, and avoid problems such as jumps, white balance shifts, and color inaccuracy in traditional relay multi-camera zoom systems, allowing users to enjoy better shooting image quality.
It is reported that the Xiaomi 16 Ultra might be released before the Spring Festival, which is earlier than the previous release time of Ultra. It is worth noting that the release date of the Xiaomi 16 series has also been advanced. The standard version and Pro version of this series will be released at the end of September.
