Meizu 16X Officially Released: With Snapdragon 710 And In-display Fingerprint Sensor

After a many of leaks and rumors, the Meizu 16X smartphone was officially announced by MEIZU at an event in China today. The handset is a souped down version of the MEIZU 16 and MEIZU 16 Plus smartphones, launched last month. The MEIZU 16X flaunts the same design as its siblings, but slightly downgraded specs. Its key highlights include a notch-less full vision display, dual-rear camera setup, latest chipset from Qualcomm and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The specifications of the MEIZU 16X include a 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 90.62 percent. The display also acts as a biometrics tool, thanks to the fingerprint sensor embedded into it. The handset is powered by 2.2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC, which is built on 10nm process same as the flagship Snapdragon 845. The chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB expandable storage.

In the camera department, the MEIZU 16X boasts of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX380 primary sensor with OIS and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor for depth-of-field effect. The dual cameras also feature an ArcSoft Algorithm, auto HDR, and enhanced scene recognition with Artificial Intelligence. For selfies, the device gets a 20-megapixel shooter with portrait mode and AI-function to beautify selfies. Software-wise, the phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based Flyme OS out of the box. A 3,100mAh battery completes the specs sheet of the MEIZU 16X.

As for the price, the MEIZU 16X 6GB+64GB costs 2098 yuan ($306), and 2398 yuan ($350) for the high-end 128GB storage variant. The handset comes in four hues: black, white, blue and rose gold, and is available for pre-orders in China starting today. The first official sale will take place on October 10th by 10:00 am.
