We have already mentioned a previous incident of a Xiaomi mobile explosion before some days. Today we are reading for a new incident, but this time for an older model of the Xiaomi mobile family. Α Xiaomi Mi 4 exploded this time, inside a classroom packed with students while it is being charged. We know that these kind of incidents are rare for Xiaomi mobiles and for sure will not be as often as these of Samsung Note 7! The bad thing is beside the fact that are rare, this time they happened close to each other, so they draw attention.
According to what we read, the Xiaomi Mi4 that finally exploded, was plugged into a charging source while the owner was using the phone inside a classroom in China when the explosion occurred. We don’t know something else except from what is shown in the images that you see. It is very well clear that the area where supposed to be the battery, has exploded, catching fire. The plastic back cover has melted, damaging on the same time and the frame of the mobile. The good think is that no injuries where reported.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 isn’t a new smartphone. It was released in 2014 and is thought as a very good mobile, which with the Mi3, gets first all MIUI updates. The Mi 4 is equipped with a 5-inch 1080p IPS display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC) quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz. It comes with 3GB RAM and with two storage versions, one of 16GB and one of 64GB. The Mi4 is equipped with a 3080mAh battery.
In this incident we don’t really know who is the guilty. If it has been used a non genuine battery or charger, or because it was used during charging, all these could cause an explosion. For sure is something that we must have in mind. As we have said before the phone must not be placed over heated objects, nor near near to water. You must not leave the device plugged in all night or on the mattress. Also it is good to remove the case while charging, as it gets less hot by this way.
