OXVA VPRIME 2 vs VPRIME Vape: What Has Changed?

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonSeptember 17, 2026

OXVA VPRIME 2 is not a complete redesign of the original VPRIME. Instead, OXVA has kept the core concept—a relatively compact pod system with up to 60W output, a color display, adjustable airflow, and both button and auto-draw activation—while upgrading several of the areas that matter most during everyday use.

The biggest changes are found in the battery, charging system, pod design, airflow architecture, and coil technology. VPRIME 2 moves from the original 2,600mAh battery to 3,400mAh, introduces a new Dual Mesh cartridge, upgrades charging from 5V/2A to 5V/3A, and uses OXVA’s UNITECH 3.0 system. The original VPRIME uses UNITECH 2.0 and a conventional VPRIME cartridge.

That makes the comparison more interesting than simply asking which model is newer. The two devices share several fundamentals, but VPRIME 2 is aimed at users who want longer battery endurance and a more performance-oriented cartridge system.

OXVA VPRIME 2 vs VPRIME: Key Specifications

The maximum output remains at 60W, so the headline power figure has not changed. The more meaningful hardware upgrade is the battery: VPRIME 2 increases capacity by about 30% compared with the original model.

The Battery Upgrade Is One of the Biggest Changes

    VPRIME 2 battery
    VPRIME 2 battery

The original VPRIME uses a 2,600mAh internal battery, while VPRIME 2 increases this to 3,400mAh. OXVA states that this represents a 30% increase in capacity.

That difference is important because the two devices have the same 60W maximum output. VPRIME 2 therefore puts more emphasis on extending the time between charges rather than simply increasing peak wattage.

Charging is also upgraded. The original VPRIME supports 5V/2A charging, while VPRIME 2 supports 5V/3A through USB-C. OXVA says the newer device can reach around 50% charge in approximately 20 minutes under its stated charging conditions.

For users who already found the original VPRIME’s 2,600mAh battery sufficient, this may not be a reason to switch by itself. For heavier users, however, the larger battery is one of the clearest hardware differences between VPRIME and VPRIME 2.

VPRIME 2 Introduces a Different Pod Concept

The cartridge system is where the newer model takes a more noticeable step forward.

The original VPRIME uses a 5ml cartridge in the standard version, with a 2ml TPD version. OXVA lists compatibility with 0.2Ω, 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω configurations, giving the original platform a relatively broad range of resistance choices.

VPRIME 2 introduces a 6ml Dual Mesh Cartridge, while the TPD version remains 2ml. For readers comparing different OXVA devices, our OXVA vape collection provides more information on the brand’s pod systems and compatible products. The new cartridges are offered in 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω versions. In Boost mode, OXVA describes the 0.4Ω Dual Mesh cartridge as approximately equivalent to 0.2Ω and the 0.6Ω version as approximately equivalent to 0.3Ω.

This means VPRIME 2 is not simply using the same cartridge with a larger tank. The internal heating approach has changed as well.

What Does the Dual Mesh Cartridge Change?

The VPRIME 2’s Dual Mesh cartridge is designed around two operating modes.

Boost Mode uses the Dual Mesh configuration for a more powerful output, while ECO Mode is designed to prioritize battery and pod longevity. OXVA says the Dual Mesh structure is intended to heat more evenly and maintain flavor consistency over the cartridge’s usable lifespan.

This gives the VPRIME 2 a different operating philosophy from the original VPRIME. Instead of relying mainly on a choice of resistance, the newer system also lets users switch between two performance modes. If you’re new to pod systems, understanding how pod vape systems work can help explain why coil resistance and power modes affect the overall experience.

For someone comparing OXVA VPRIME 2 vs VPRIME, this is arguably more significant than the small increase in display size.

UNITECH 3.0 and the Airflow System

The original VPRIME is built around OXVA’s UNITECH 2.0 coil technology. Its design includes a five-layer leak-resistant structure, and the device provides adjustable side airflow.

VPRIME 2 moves to UNITECH 3.0 and adds a redesigned U-shaped airway. OXVA says this airflow path is intended to produce a smoother and more consistent draw. The company also describes an enlarged condensate collection chamber as part of its updated anti-leak design.

The airflow adjustment remains familiar in concept. Users can move between a tighter RDL-style draw and a more open DTL draw rather than being locked into one airflow setting.

This makes the newer model an evolutionary upgrade: the basic adjustable-airflow idea remains, but the internal airflow architecture has been revised.

    The Screen Gets Slightly Larger

Both devices use a color display, but VPRIME 2 increases the screen from 0.96 inches to 0.98 inches.

The difference is small on paper, so it should not be treated as a major reason to upgrade. More important is that the VPRIME 2 display provides information such as power, battery level and operating mode, while OXVA also provides multiple interface themes and animations.

    OXVA VPrime Color
    OXVA VPrime Color
    OXVA VPrime 2 Color
    OXVA VPrime 2 Color

The original VPRIME already put unusual emphasis on its color screen and 3D-style interface. VPRIME 2 keeps that identity rather than replacing it with a radically different interface.

VPRIME 2 Is Larger and Heavier

The extra battery capacity and revised hardware come with a physical cost.

    The original VPRIME measures 37.8 × 23.45 × 105.5mm and weighs 116g. VPRIME 2 measures 41.2 × 27.7 × 113.12mm and weighs 150g.

That is a noticeable difference in weight. The VPRIME 2 is therefore not simply a higher-capacity version that retains exactly the same compact dimensions.

This creates an interesting trade-off: the original VPRIME is the lighter device, while VPRIME 2 puts more hardware into a larger body to accommodate its 3,400mAh battery and updated pod platform.

Are VPRIME and VPRIME 2 Pods Compatible?

This is one of the more useful details for existing VPRIME owners.

OXVA states that the VPRIME series has cross-compatibility between the two generations. The official VPRIME 2 page specifically lists VPRIME cartridges as compatible with VPRIME 2 and VPRIME Dual Mesh cartridges as compatible with the original VPRIME.

However, the two cartridge families are not identical.

The original VPRIME cartridge supports a broader range of listed resistance options, while the newer Dual Mesh cartridge is centered on 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω configurations. The Dual Mesh cartridge also brings the newer Boost and ECO operating modes to the VPRIME 2 platform.

That cross-compatibility gives the two-generation platform some flexibility instead of making the original accessories immediately obsolete.

VPRIME vs VPRIME 2: Which Specifications Actually Matter?

Looking only at the numbers can make the two devices appear quite similar. Both reach 60W, both have adjustable side airflow, both use color screens, and both support auto-draw and button activation.

The more meaningful differences are elsewhere:

Battery: 2,600mAh on VPRIME versus 3,400mAh on VPRIME 2.

    Charging: 5V/2A versus 5V/3A.

Pod capacity: 5ml versus 6ml in the standard configuration.

Heating system: UNITECH 2.0 versus Dual Mesh and UNITECH 3.0.

Airflow architecture: conventional VPRIME airflow design versus the U-shaped airway used by VPRIME 2.

    Weight: 116g versus 150g.

These changes explain the positioning of the second generation better than the unchanged 60W headline number.

Design Philosophy: Refinement Rather Than Reinvention

The original VPRIME established the basic formula: a relatively compact DTL-oriented pod, a large internal battery, adjustable power, a color display, auto-draw activation and compatibility with different vaping styles.

VPRIME 2 retains that foundation but moves the hardware toward longer operation and a more sophisticated cartridge system.

The result is a clear generational split. The first VPRIME gives users more resistance choices and a lighter body, while VPRIME 2 focuses more heavily on battery capacity, charging speed, Dual Mesh performance and updated airflow engineering.

OXVA VPRIME 2 vs VPRIME: Final Takeaway

The OXVA VPRIME 2 is best understood as a performance-focused evolution of the original VPRIME rather than an entirely different device.

Its biggest upgrades are the 3,400mAh battery, 5V/3A charging, 6ml Dual Mesh cartridge, UNITECH 3.0 airflow system, and Boost/ECO modes. At the same time, it retains the 60W maximum output, color-screen interface, adjustable airflow and dual activation concept found on the original VPRIME.

The original VPRIME remains the lighter option and offers a wider range of listed resistance configurations. VPRIME 2 adds more battery capacity and a newer cartridge architecture, but its larger 150g body is part of that upgrade.

For readers researching VPRIME 2 vs VPRIME, the main question is therefore not simply which model has the higher wattage. Both are rated for 60W. The more useful distinction is whether the newer battery, charging, Dual Mesh cartridge and UNITECH 3.0 system are more relevant to your needs than the original VPRIME’s lighter construction and broader cartridge resistance range.

Note: OXVA states that its vaping devices are intended for adults of legal purchasing age. Nicotine is addictive, and applicable local laws and age restrictions should be followed.
