OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra vs. XLIM Pro 2 DNA Review: Hands-on Comparison

Habib QaziBy Habib QaziDecember 9, 2025
Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

The pod system market is usually an iterative game, small battery bumps here, a new color there. But late 2024/early 2025 has brought us two genuinely divergent flagships from OXVA.

On one hand, you have the XLIM 3 Ultra, a device that feels like it’s from the future with a massive touchscreen and a focus on visual interaction. On the other, the XLIM Pro 2 DNA incorporates the legendary Evolv DNA chipset, usually reserved for high-end box mods, into a compact pod stick.

I’ve spent time with both, and while they share the “XLIM” name, they are for two very different types of vapers. Here is the hands-on breakdown.

Watch OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra vs. XLIM Pro 2 DNA video here:

    The Specs

Feature OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA
Chipset OXVA proprietary (Super Pulse) Evolv DNA (Customizable)
Display 2.2″ HD Full Touchscreen 0.56″ HD Color Screen
    Battery 1500 mAh 1300 mAh
    Max Power 30W 30W
Special Tech Super Pulse System, Puff Graphs Replay Mode, Anti-Burn Protection
Coils Compatible with all XLIM V3 Pods Uses SS (Stainless Steel) V3 Pods for DNA features
    Charging 2A Fast Charge (USB-C) 2A Fast Charge (USB-C)
Build Zinc Alloy, slightly chunky Zinc Alloy + Carbon Fiber, slim

    Design & Build

    XLIM 3 Ultra

Holding the XLIM 3 Ultra feels substantial. It is noticeably wider and thicker than previous XLIMs to accommodate that massive 2.2-inch touchscreen. The screen is the star here, it’s vibrant, responsive, and allows you to swipe through menus, change themes, and view detailed puff graphs (daily/weekly/monthly).

    • The Feel: It feels techy and modern, but if you prefer discreet vaping, this isn’t it. The screen lights up the room.

    • Ergonomics: Despite the bulk, the edges are rounded, and the “vertical” airflow slider is easy to reach.

    XLIM Pro 2 DNA

The Pro 2 DNA sticks to the classic XLIM stick form factor but elevates the materials. My unit came in a “Luminous Forged Carbon” finish that feels incredibly rigid and lightweight.

    • The Feel: It screams quality without shouting. It slips easily into a coin pocket.

    • The Screen: It has a small 0.56″ screen. It’s sharp and does the job, but it is purely functional compared to the Ultra’s cinematic display.

Winner for Portability: XLIM Pro 2 DNA

Winner for “Cool Factor”: XLIM 3 Ultra

Performance & Tech: Pulse vs. DNA

This is where the two devices diverge completely.

XLIM 3 Ultra: The Super Pulse System

The Ultra runs on OXVA’s new “Super Pulse” system. In testing, this meant power delivery was rock solid even as the battery drained.

    • The Vape: The firing speed is instant. The flavor is intense and warm, typical of OXVA’s mesh coils.

    • The Interface: Being able to adjust wattage by swiping is fun, and seeing a graph of your nicotine intake is a neat (if slightly gimmicky) feature for data nerds.

    XLIM Pro 2 DNA

The DNA chip is the “Ferrari engine” of the vaping world. It offers features never seen in a pod system of this size, but note: you must use the specific Stainless Steel (SS) XLIM pods to unlock these features.

    1. Replay Mode: This is the killer feature. Once you take a puff that feels “perfect,” you hit the Save button. The chip then constantly micro-adjusts power to replicate exactly that puff’s temperature and flavor every single time.

    2. Anti-Burn: The chip tracks the temperature of the stainless steel coil. If your pod is dry, the device cuts the power immediately and says “Fill Pod.” I tried to burn a pod on purpose by vaping it dry, and the DNA chip refused to fire. It is genuine magic.

Winner for Flavor Consistency: XLIM Pro 2 DNA (by a mile).

Winner for Power Stability: Tie (both are excellent, though Ultra has a larger battery buffer).

    Battery Life & Charging

    • XLIM 3 Ultra (1500 mAh): This is a beast. I got nearly 2 full days of heavy usage at 18W. However, that massive screen does eat into the battery if you keep the brightness maxed out.

    • XLIM Pro 2 DNA (1300 mAh): Respectable battery life that easily clears a full day. The DNA chip is famous for its efficiency (98% power efficiency), so it squeezes every drop of energy out of the 1300 mAh cell.

Both feature 2A fast charging, getting you from 0% to 80% in roughly 30-35 minutes.

    The Pods: Compatibility Note

    • XLIM 3 Ultra: Works with any XLIM pod (V2, V3 top-fill). You can grab a box of standard 0.6Ω or 0.8Ω mesh pods anywhere and they will work perfectly.

    • XLIM Pro 2 DNA: Also works with standard pods in “Wattage Mode,” but to justify the higher price tag, you need the SS (Stainless Steel) 0.6Ω / 0.8Ω pods. If you use standard Kanthal mesh pods, you lose the Replay and Anti-Burn features, essentially turning it into a regular XLIM Pro 2.

    Pros & Cons

    OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra

    Pros:

    • Huge Battery (1500 mAh) is best in class.
    • Touchscreen is responsive and visually stunning.
    • Super Pulse ensures no power drop-off at low battery.
    • Detailed usage tracking is great for monitoring intake.

    Cons:

    • It is physically chunkier and heavier.
    • The large screen is a fingerprint magnet.
    • Might be “too much” tech for a simple MTL vaper.

    OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA

    Pros:

    • Replay Mode delivers the most consistent vape I have ever experienced.
    • Anti-Burn Technology literally saves you money on burnt coils.
    • Premium Carbon Fiber build quality.
    • EScribe Software: You can plug it into a PC to customize menus and curves (for advanced users).

    Cons:

    • Expensive (DNA chips are pricey).
    • Requires specific SS pods to use the best features.
    • Smaller screen and battery (1300 mAh) compared to the Ultra.

    Final Verdict

These are both top-tier devices, but they serve different masters.

Buy the OXVA XLIM 3 Ultra if:

You want the longest battery life possible and you love gadgets. If you enjoy seeing usage graphs, swiping through themes, and having a device that feels like a piece of modern tech, the Ultra is the fun, powerful choice. It’s the “Max” version of the pod world.

Buy OXVA XLIM Pro 2 DNA if:

You are a flavor purist or a chain vaper who hates dry hits. The DNA chip isn’t just a gimmick; the Anti-Burn protection and Replay mode genuinely change the vaping experience. If you don’t mind buying the specific SS pods, this is the most sophisticated, high-performance draw you can get in a pod system today.

    My Personal Pick:

I lean toward the XLIM Pro 2 DNA. The peace of mind knowing I will never get a dry hit, combined with the slim carbon fiber body, makes it the ultimate daily driver for me.
