Today, Razer and the US operator Verizon jointly launched the 5G and Wi-Fi versions of the Razer Edge gaming handheld, which are priced at US$599.99 and US$399.99, of which Wi-Fi The Fi model will be available on February 8th.
The Razer Edge Gaming Handheld Founder’s Edition also comes with the Razer Hammerhead Wireless Headset (2021) for a total of $500.
The Raazer Edge gaming handheld is equipped with a Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chip, with 8GB LPDDR5 memory and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage (expandable to 2TB via a microSD card), with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that supports a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (20:9) and 144Hz refresh rate.
This handheld adopts an active cooling design, so it can maintain a higher performance release level than a mobile phone. In addition, the Razer Razer Edge game console is equipped with a Kishi V2 Pro control handle, and it is detachable. After disassembly, it looks more like a mobile phone, but it is not clear whether it can make calls.
IT Home learned that all versions of the Razer Edge gaming console support Wi-Fi 6E connections. Stream games from your gaming PC or console, and use game streaming services.
Its chip is powerful enough to run native Android games and emulation. The version offered by Verizon has 5G — both sub-6GHz and millimeter wave, and both 6GHz Wi-Fi and 5G offer low latency for the best possible connection.
It’s worth mentioning that this handheld is primarily for playing Android games, but you can also stream PC games through Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta) and Nvidia’s GeForce Now.
The Razer Edge gaming console supports Bluetooth 5.2 and features a 3.5mm headphone jack. In addition to the headset, dual speakers with THX spatial audio are available, as well as dual microphones for voice chat. There is also the former 5MP camera (supports 1080p@60fps video capture).
The Razer Edge gaming handheld has a built-in 5000mAh battery, and the charging speed is not yet known. The device weighs 264 grams by itself and 401 grams with the handle attached, and the body measures 260 x 85 x 11 mm.
