We recently received the RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition, equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor generation.
Ryzen 7 7840HS is a high-performance mobile processor specially designed by AMD for thin and light notebooks. It is based on TSMC’s 4nm process technology, Zen4 CPU architecture, eight cores and 16 threads, a base frequency of 3.8GHz, and an acceleration frequency of up to 5.1GHz. Design & Appearance
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition is built with the top-level CNC integrated delicate carving process (the same process as the MacBook). The body is made of 6-series aviation-grade aluminum alloy. In addition, there is a ceramic sandblasting metal anodizing process on the surface of the fuselage, so the notebook feels delicate to the touch. The 15.6-inch IPS screen with a ratio of 16:10 can display more content vertically and improve office efficiency.
The screen’s resolution is as high as 3200*2000, the refresh rate is 120Hz, the brightness is 500nit, and the contrast ratio is 1500:1. It has passed the HDR400 certification. RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition has a Radeom 780M integrated graphics card. In the 3DMark Fire Strike test, the graphics score is 3469, the maximum operating frequency is 2700MHz, and the maximum power consumption is 49W.
In addition, the physical score of the Ryzen 7 7840HS is 25600.
In the 3DMark Time Spy test, the graphics score of the Radeon 780M is 2785, the highest operating frequency is 2700MHz, and the highest power consumption is 55W. The physical score of the Ryzen 7 7840HS is 9731.

From the test results, although the frequency of the Radeon 780M carried by the Ryzen 7 7840HS is only 2700MHz, while that of the Ryzen 9 7940HS is 2800MHz, thanks to the better performance release of the RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition and the high bandwidth provided by the LPDDR5 6400MHz memory, its game performance is 2% stronger than that of the Ryzen 9 7940HS.
Compared with the Rubik’s Cube M600 equipped with the Ryzen 9 6900HS, the game performance of the RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition is just about 12% stronger.
1. Screen test
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ruilong Edition has a 3.2K screen and a refresh rate of 90Hz. We use Starscream X to test the screen’s color gamut and brightness contrast.
95% sRGB color gamut, 71% Adobe RGB color gamut, 71% P3 color gamut, and 66% NTSC color gamut. The maximum brightness of this screen is 484nit, and the contrast ratio is about 1500:1.
Regarding color accuracy, the highest Delta E value is 4.93, the lowest is 0.07, and the average Delta E value is only 0.62.
Each RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition screen has been color-calibrated before leaving the factory. Taking Delta-E-related technical standards as a reference, the color accuracy of this screen has surpassed the standard of professional graphics monitors.
2. Disk performance test
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition uses a Kioxia BG5 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD; the specific model is KBG50ZNV512G.
In the CrystalDiskMark test, the sequential read speed of this SSD reached 2806MB/s, and the write speed also went 1539MB/s; the 4K read and write speeds exceeded 55MB/s and 157MB/s respectively.
In the 64GB test, some speeds dropped slightly. The sequential read and write speeds are 3516MB/s and 2717MB/s, respectively; the 4K read speed is 45MB/s, and the 4K write speed is 150MB/S.
3. AIDA64 memory cache test
RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition integrates dual-channel LPDDR5 6400MHz 16GB memory. The measured memory reads 56837MB/s, writes 91068MB/s, and 70251MB/s, with a delay of 110ns.
1. Battery life test
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition has a built-in large-capacity lithium battery with a capacity of 72Wh. We use PCMark 10 actually to test the battery life of the notebook.
The scene selected for the test is PCMark 10’s modern office; the power mode is “energy-saving mode,” all other processes are closed during the trial, the network connection is closed, and the screen brightness is adjusted to 50%.
In the PCMark 10 modern office scene, the battery life test score is 12 hours and 29 minutes, which is enough to support the needs of mobile office battery life for 1 to 2 days.
2. Toaster test
Use AIDA64 FPU to test the baking machine, and the room temperature is 28 degrees during the test.
The baking machine lasted for 31 minutes, and the power consumption of the Ryzen 7 7840HS processor was stable at around 54W. When baking, the processor’s temperature is about 92 degrees, and the full-core frequency is 3.9GHz.

Only with enough power consumption can the potential of high-end processors be realized for notebooks. For a processor like Ryzen 9 7940HS, if you give it a power consumption of 15W, the performance will be far inferior to the 6-core Ryzen 5 7535HS.
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition has a full-blooded performance release of 54W. Compared with the 45W Ryzen 9 7940HS, the actual measurement has a 2% lead in CPU performance, and the game performance can also lead the latter by 2%.
2. Game performance
We tested 12 3A masterpieces at the highest quality of 1080P resolution. The frame rate can be maintained at 30~40FPS, “And PUBG Mobile” can even reach a high frame rate of 50FPS.
The overall performance is about 12% stronger than the Radeon 680M and 6% stronger than the desktop version of the GTX 1050 Ti. It is undoubtedly the most robust nuclear display today.
If the picture quality is adequately reduced, most games can get a smooth enough running frame rate.
3. 12.5 hours battery life
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition has a built-in 72Wh battery. Using PCMark 10, the battery life is 12 hours and 29 minutes. This figure is not a big problem to meet the needs of a day’s mobile office.
4. Screen performance
The RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition screen has a maximum brightness of 481nit, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, and a color accuracy of Delta E=0.63. It is slightly different from the official data, but it can still be the best screen at 5,000 yuan.
Don’t forget, it also supports HDR400, with 3200*200 resolution and 120Hz high refresh rate.
The last is the price. The first RedmiBook Pro 15 2023 Ryzen Edition purchase only costs 4,799 yuan. At the same price, it isn’t easy to find a thin and light book that is more valuable than it.
