Igeekphone News, July 2nd: Technology media SamLover published a blog post yesterday (July 1st), reporting that Samsung is developing a new technology called “SUS CAN”, which will be equipped with steel shell batteries starting from next year.
It is reported that the structure of this steel shell battery is rather complex, consisting of components such as terminals, positive and negative electrodes, separators, safety valves and aluminum shells.
The source only disclosed that the steel shell battery will be deployed starting from next year, but did not specify which smart phone it will be used in. The Galaxy S26 series is the first product to be unveiled next year, so it may be equipped with this battery first.
Igeekphone Note: Earlier this year, it was reported that Samsung might acquire Group14 in order to introduce silicon-carbon battery technology and is likely to apply it in the Galaxy S26 series. Subsequent reports indicate that due to the difficulty in the research and development of silicon-carbon batteries, Samsung may abandon the use of this technology in the Galaxy S26.
It is worth noting that Apple has deployed steel case batteries in the iPhone 16 Pro model.
