Igeekphone reported on July 22nd that Samsung officially unveiled its first AI smart glasses – Galaxy Glasses – at tonight’s press conference.
This device was jointly developed by Samsung, Google, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. It runs the Android XR system and is deeply integrated with Google’s Gemini multimodal large model natively, creating a 24/7 hands-free visual intelligent assistant.
The entire device features a slim and lightweight appearance similar to that of a regular optical lens. The overall weight is only around 50 grams. It does not incorporate a traditional AR display. Instead, it uses high-definition cameras on both sides of the frame to capture real-world images, synchronously transmitting visual information to Gemini for recognition and analysis. Finally, it reports the AI processing results through an in-frame audio unit, significantly reducing the device’s weight and power consumption, while also ensuring comfort during long-term daily use.

The hardware core is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 dedicated chip. It has four Arm cores with the maximum operating frequency of 1.9GHz. It is equipped with a 12-megapixel imaging sensor and supports 30-frame full HD video recording. The frame of the glasses is equipped with two privacy indicator lights, which will light up simultaneously when shooting is activated, ensuring the safety of the shooting.
Relying on the multi-modal capabilities of Gemini, the glasses cover various practical scenarios such as office work, travel, and communication. During meetings, they can automatically capture the text on the whiteboard and can be used to quickly organize and archive it into Samsung Notes. When traveling, they provide real-time voice navigation and support real-time translation in multiple languages for conversations.

Mobile messages do not require you to lift your hand to check. The AI automatically extracts summaries and reads them aloud. During the call, you can also share the first-person real-time view hands-free. At the same time, it has context memory capabilities, which can retain multiple rounds of task information and reduce repetitive operations.
The device offers two interaction methods. Basic operations are carried out through the touch-sensitive area on the right temple of the frame. Sliding adjusts the volume, lightly touching answers the call, and long pressing initiates the shooting function.
After pairing with the Galaxy Watch 9 series of watches, additional wireless gesture control is unlocked, further freeing up your hands.
In terms of battery life, the eyeglass body can operate continuously for 9 hours on a full charge. The accompanying charging and storage case can complete 7 full recharges, meeting the needs for all-day use outside.

Two new joint-branded frame styles have been launched. The Gentle Monster style features slender black frames with a simple and elegant design. The Warby Parker style features an upwardly arched eyebrow line, which is suitable for daily wear. It also supports the option of choosing photochromic lenses, which darken automatically in the outdoors to provide better shading.
The entire device is deeply integrated into the entire ecosystem of Samsung Galaxy. It can seamlessly connect with foldable smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. AI heavy-duty reasoning tasks are automatically pushed to the paired mobile devices, balancing the lightweight nature of the device with a complete intelligent experience. It has officially entered the consumer-level AI glasses market segment.
