The Top Hidden Camera Detector Apps

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonFebruary 10, 2022

Nowadays, it seems like more people are buying and using spy equipment than ever before.

With online and traditional surveillance stores selling a wide range of sophisticated products that allow people to spy on others, people are looking for ways to detect hidden cameras, bugs, and other devices.

If you feel like someone is spying on you, then you should do whatever it takes to find out where these devices are hidden. Millions of people have been downloading camera detector apps that are available on well-known app marketplaces.

Don’t download free hidden camera detector apps

If you travel frequently, then you probably stay in hotels and rental properties on a regular basis. Hotel rooms and rentals are common places for people to hide surveillance equipment, so you might be tempted to download an app to help you locate a hidden camera.

Although there are tons of free hidden camera detector apps out there, very few of them seem to work. If you want to have a slight chance of finding a hidden camera in a room, you will need to pay for a reliable app.

    Android apps

If you are currently using an android device, here are some of the best hidden camera detector apps on the market.

    • Anti-Spy Camera: The developers at Softmatic Soft released Anti-Spy Camera a few years ago. Currently, Anti-Spy Camera is only compatible with Android smart devices. If the app manages to detect a camera ray in a room, it will send a notification to your Android tablet or smartphone. Unlike most free apps, it is able to check if there is a magnetic field in a room that is used to detect hidden cameras.
    • Spy Camera Detector & Locator: One of the most popular apps for Android devices is the Spy Camera Detector & Locator. Although there is a free version available, if you want to enable all of the app’s features, you will have to invest in the full version.

Before downloading an app, make sure that your front light on your smart device is working properly. Most apps will use the light on your phone to locate hidden cameras.

Unfortunately, finding hidden cameras with an app can consume a lot of time. Instead of relying on an app, you should consider spending your hard-earned money on devices that are specifically designed to find hidden cameras, such as this hidden camera detector: https://spycentre.com/products/hidden-camera-detector

    Apps for IOS

There are several hidden camera app detectors available on the AppleStore such as:

    • DontSpy: Although most people download this app to locate hidden cameras, it also allows you to find bugging devices in a room. This app is one of the best hidden camera detectors on the market, so it is not surprising so many people have purchased it.
    • The Hidden Camera Detector for IOS: If you want to download this app, the camera and the light on your smart device must be working. It uses the camera on your device to scan a room for hidden cameras, and the light it used to find a camera lens. Also, you will have to enable the GPS on your device to help so it can find spy cameras.

    Where are cameras hidden

Locating a hidden camera without a camera detector can prove challenging. However, there are several areas in a room you should inspect if you think someone is watching your every move.

Smoke detectors are installed in businesses, homes, public places, etc. Most of us don’t even notice them, which is why smoke detectors are often fitted with a hidden camera. Most smoke detectors with hidden cameras are hard-wired, not battery operated, so if you are in a room with a smoke detector that is connected to the mains, take a closer look to see if you can see a camera lens.

Clocks are often used to spy on people. Tiny cameras are easily installed in a clock, and very few people take much notice of them. Again, take a closer look to see if you can spot a tiny camera inside.

Visit spy stores to see what type of spy devices are available. Well-stocked spy stores often have lots of different spy equipment for sale, so try to familizer yourself with the different products available. This way, you will know the type of devices to look out for.

    Conclusion

If you manage to find a hidden camera, don’t remove it. If you damage it or remove it, you could be breaking the law. Spying on people isn’t against the law in a lot of states, but you should speak to the owner of the building and ask them if it can be removed. If they give you permission, then ask them to remove the camera instead of doing it yourself.
