Vivo continues to plan the launch of its next concept smartphone, the APEX 2020 and, according to the most recent rumors, the company must follow the opposite direction of the market by presenting the flagship with only two rear cameras, but both with extremely powerful sensors and features.
According to a concept published by Ben Geskin on Twitter, Vivo’s next conceptual smartphone will be launched with the design below: an uninterrupted screen with no visible front camera and the presence of two rear cameras, a traditional circular lens and another periscope lens for high-quality zoom. And some details jump out at first sight immediately.
Right on the back cover, we see the circular module that houses the two cameras. In the first half above we notice the rectangular lens with the inscription on the side indicating the exclusive optical zoom variable from 5x to 7.5x. This means that the lenses inside the periscope camera module can move to offer different ranges depending on the user, without losing quality.
In the other camera of a circular design, which will be the main sensor for capturing photos, we see the presence of the resolution of 48MP and also the brand “gimbal camera”, indicating excellent stabilization in videos.
A “gimbal” is an accessory used by video professionals or even enthusiasts who want to produce smoother content, without leaving the image shaky or inconsistent. With smartphones focusing more and more on this issue, it seems that vivo also wants to enter the fray to present the best solution.
Vivo APEX 2020 would be announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 that takes place later this month, but the manufacturer canceled its presentation at the world fair due to the global outbreak of the new Coronavirus. For the same reason, the GSMA Group organization will hold an emergency meeting this week to decide whether MWC will actually be held this year.
