Xiaomi’s First Car to Support Apple CarPlay, Powered by Qualcomm Chips

Xiaomi has recently unveiled two significant parameters for its first car. The Bluetooth SIG database indicates that Xiaomi’s inaugural sedan, codenamed “MS 11,” will feature a Qualcomm cockpit chip, expected to be the latest flagship chip, Snapdragon 8295. Furthermore, Xiaomi’s cars have received certification for Bluetooth 5.2 and Apple CarPlay support.

It is evident that Xiaomi’s first smart car has meticulously incorporated all the necessary configurations, prioritizing the user experience, not only for Xiaomi phone users. Let’s delve into the latest information on Xiaomi cars.

Firstly, Qualcomm will provide the automotive chip, Snapdragon 8295, a 5nm process technology chip, boasting an impressive 8-fold performance improvement over its predecessor, the 8155. This chip is already in mass production, and the Jiyue 01 was recently launched at a price of 260,000 yuan.

Moving on to the chip evaluation, Snapdragon 8295 leads the car-grade chip performance rankings by a substantial margin, leaving the second-placed Snapdragon 8195 far behind. This chip not only satisfies human-computer interaction but also provides the computational power required for autonomous parking and “cabin-parking integration.” Additionally, it supports both Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Regarding Bluetooth capabilities, Xiaomi Auto has submitted six different models, expected to offer various Bluetooth versions, including 5.0 and 5.2.

One standout feature is Xiaomi’s support for Apple CarPlay, allowing the integration of the car owner’s iPhone device for calls and other functions, enhancing safety during driving. This dispels previous internet rumors that claimed “Xiaomi cars can only connect to Xiaomi phones.”

Summarizing the information on Xiaomi cars:

    1. Xiaomi has secured the qualifications for car manufacturing, and its factory in Yizhuang, Beijing, has an annual production capacity, with recent recruitment efforts suggesting a delivery date in 2024.
    2. Xiaomi has finalized battery suppliers, China Innovation Aviation and CATL, and the electric model will employ an 800V platform and a 101kWh ternary lithium battery, potentially offering a range of over 700km.
    3. Xiaomi has demonstrated its strengths in high-voltage fast charging and long battery life.
    4. In terms of smart driving, Xiaomi has two hardware configurations: lidar and non-lidar. The acquisition of DeepMotion and a team of 500 people in autonomous driving research and development positions Xiaomi well for smart driving capabilities in highway, city, and parking scenarios.
    5. Xiaomi’s smart driving hardware solution is expected to resemble the Max and Pro models of the ideal L series, featuring lidar for city-level intelligent driving and non-lidar models for high-speed loops.
    6. Xiaomi’s first car is anticipated to be priced between 100,000 and 300,000 yuan, with a compelling configuration that includes Qualcomm 8295, multiple Bluetooth models, Apple CarPlay support, lidar-equipped intelligent driving, ternary lithium battery, 800V high-voltage fast charging, and a 700km range.

With such impressive specifications, Xiaomi may indeed be poised to recreate the “1999” era that once swept the industry with a 199,900-yuan model.
