Despite the consumer market is increasingly focusing on laptops and 2-in-1 with minimal thickness and no fans, for professionals who expressly seek brute power the speech is a bit ‘different. One example is the new Lenovo ThinkPad P52 mobile workstation designed for VR.
Lenovo introduced the new ThinkPad P52 as its first 15.6-inch “VR-ready” workstation and the most powerful laptop ever. Inside, the P52 can be configured with Intel’s 8th Gen Intel Xeon or Intel Core CPUs, along with NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPUs to handle heavy graphics loads. Even more impressive, the system can also be configured with up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory, which can be useful when working with 3D graphics and large VR models with rich visual effects.
And not to miss anything, the Lenovo ThinkPad P52 can also be configured up to storage at up to 6TB. Among other technical features, the P52 can count on an IR camera and a fingerprint reader for added security (ideal for Windows Hello), along with a TPM 2.0 and a webcam cover.
There are many expansion ports, including three USB-A 3.1 ports, two USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 ports, and an HDMI 2.0 port, as well as an SD card reader and a Smart Card reader. A dedicated 1000 Mbit / s Ethernet port it’s also on board, along with a slot for the Kensington lock.
As for the screen, Lenovo has a couple of 15.6-inch options available. The first is a 1080p panel with 300 nits of brightness and a range of Adobe colors of 72 %. You can also take a step forward with a 4K touch panel with 400 nits of brightness and 100% Adobe color gamut coverage.
To accommodate all this hardware, the Lenovo ThinkPad P52 needs a 377.4 x 252.3 x 24.5 mm body that, in terms of weight, translates into 2.45 KG and it has a 90 Whr battery. Unfortunately, Lenovo has not yet announced any information on the sale price and availability outside the US, where it will go on sale by the end of June.
