The Impact of Mobile and Other New Technologies on The Gaming Industry

The gaming industry has evolved a lot since the introduction of the first arcade game in the 1970s. You can now play immersive games on your mobile and even game at Omnia game GB from your smartphone. Today, we’ll take a look at how mobile and other technologies are changing the gaming sector.

The effect of smartphones on gaming

Mobile phones started becoming popular in the 1990s. During that time, mobile phones were primarily used to make and receive calls. Today, almost everyone has a smartphone and it has made a significant impact on the gaming industry. The internet has been the real game-changer in the gaming sector. When the internet became available for public use, developers began to realize the power of distributing games digitally. This has reduced the manufacturing, marketing and distributing costs of games. In recent years, smartphone prices have dropped to a considerable extent and the number of free to play games has also increased. The gaming industry which used to change its development cycle after 7 years now works on a 2-year cycle. In short, the advent of the smartphone has been a boon for developers.

A new level of engagement with VR

In VR gaming, the VR headset allows the users to see the virtual world they’re interacting with. Hand controls can also be used that gives the user the ability to touch and move the objects in the virtual world. The added level of being able to act in the world offers an immersive and real-world experience to players. As VR games continue to expand in the gaming industry, more and more brands are investing in VR technology to offer an engaging experience.

Google has recently launched a series of cardboard VR viewers ranging from $5 to $20. You can pair the viewers with your smartphone and they are the single most low-cost way to experience virtual reality games. Virtual Reality gaming can help companies to deepen the connections and improve customer loyalty.

More appealing games with augmented reality

AR gaming is the integration of game visual and audio content with the player’s environment in real-time. The technology uses the existing environment of the user and creates a gaming environment within it. AR is bridging the gap between developers and players. The advanced features incorporated by AR make games extremely addictive and it encourages developers to enhance their skills. The in-game development has brought new opportunities for developers and provided them with solutions for various traditional problems.

Augmented Reality has replaced all the traditional gaming systems such as Nintendo, Xbox and PlayStation with new innovative trends. AR in-game development uses 3D tracking, smart glasses support and geolocation to offer more immersive and engaging games. AR technology always brings something innovative and creative in the market. It has made a great contribution towards increasing computing capabilities on smartphones. AR has the potential to provide an even more immersive gaming experience in the future.
