Xiaomi is one of the few smartphone makers to produce tablet tablets from time to time. It looks like we have the renders of the company’s next model, the Mi Tab 5G, its first model with 5G technology. The device has just leaked to Weibo, where we first see the design. The source of the leak says he has plans from a source inside the company. As this is the first time we are seeing the upcoming 5G tablet, we are expecting a second source to confirm its existence.
What we see in the renders is that the Xiaomi Mi Tab 5G has quite a few bezels. The volume keys are on the top left, not the most recommended location for a tablet. The power key is near the keys but in the upper left of the tablet. The corners of the device are rounded if the leak is accurate. The tablet’s name according to the source is “Mi Tab 5G”, and includes a camera on the back. Next to the camera, you’ll notice an LED flash.

The tablet includes a large screen. Comparing the size with the camera sensor is likely to be over ten inches in diagonal. The source claims that the device includes a 144Hz refresh rate display. It does not mention its size or resolution, unfortunately. Very strange is the lack of selfie camera as there is no indication for mounting it in the frame, there is no notch or hole in the screen. As the camera technology below the screen is not ready yet – we recently talked about it – it may not have been accidentally added to the renders design.
A 10MP resolution camera will be mounted on the back of the device according to the source. The camera unit will protrude a little – will the tablet be so thin? The Xiaomi logo is also visible on the back of the tablet. The source claims that the device will be powered by Snapdragon 865.
This would be quite unusual for Xiaomi, as the company has never included the latest and most powerful SoC in its tablets. Two SIM card slots will also be available, as well as a microchip for NFC support. The source claims that the tablet will come with a magnetic keyboard/case.
