Recent reports suggest that Xiaomi is working on at least two phones with Snapdragon 870 processors. Allegedly, one of them will be marketed under the Redmi brand. The other one will apparently be part of the Xiaomi 12 series. It is now certain that Xiaomi will announce the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 mini models under this series. It seems that the budget-friendly Xiaomi 12X model will also be included in the family.
The Polish tipster Kacper Skrzypek focused around the MIUI community has found the trail of the new Xiaomi phone. He reached the documentation, where the Xiaomi 12X with the symbol 2112123AG and the code name “Psyche” is directly mentioned. A device with that name has appeared before, but it could not be associated with a market designation.
According to Kacper Skrzypek, Xiaomi 12X is a smartphone with an AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 6.28 inches and Full HD + resolution (1080 x 2400), presenting HDR10 content (rather HDR10 +). The display is characterized by a high refreshment of 120 Hz.
The diagonal of the screen is not very large for the latest Xiaomi models, but the author of the leak states that this value was calculated based on the dimensions of 145.4 x 65.4 mm. The 6.28-inch display is also to be found in the Xiaomi 12 mini.
Xiaomi 12X will be powered by the Snapdragon 870 (7-nm) system, i.e. a renewed version of the good old Snapdragon 865+, with cores with a maximum clock speed of 3.2 GHz. The phone will, of course, provide 5G connectivity. The smartphone will also be equipped with a camera with a 50MP matrix.
The Chinese version of Xiaomi 12X with model number 2112123AC has already appeared on the TENAA certification website earlier this week. The certification website has already confirmed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 mobile platform and the 67W fast charge on the upcoming model.
Readers should note that the upcoming Xiaomi 12X may not be the successor to the Mi 11X (India). Remember that the Mi 11X is known as the Redmi K40 in China and the POCO F3 in the global markets. It will be interesting to see if the Xiaomi 12X is released in India and under what name.
